Nutmeg.
Lotus POV
銀)
I knocked on the door and waited to hear an answer, I was told to come in, maybe she thinks it’s her mother, but I opened the door and stood next to it, waiting for her to notice that I’m not Emmaline.
“Hello,” I say when she doesn’t look up from her sketchbook, she was drawing something.
“Hi,” she says still not looking.
“Uhhh…the…the beta said I should come in and say hi,” I say my checks turning bloody red from embarrassment.
“And you did, are you going to come in or stay at the door?” she asks
next.
“I’ll come in.” I say, entering her room some more and closing the door behind me, the room was decorated with many drawing and painting
well maybe. all of them made by her if I had to guess.
“You draw?” I ask her, stating the obvious.
“Mhm, do you?” she asks me.
“A little bit, but I’m not as good as you,” I say honestly, I knew how to draw, but hardly as good as hers.
“What’s your name?” she asks me turning to me, I could see her face, before all I could see was her split dye hair, half brown, half gray, and
now I can see a matching set of brown eyes, she had glasses on, and a nose ring, she was the coolest girl I have ever seen.
“I’m Lotus, what about you?” I ask her, she petted the spot next to her on the bed and I took a seat there.
“I’m Nutmeg, and I know my name and all, mom has a weird sense of humour,” she says with a shrug.
“I think it’s a cool name. I’m called Lotus.” I remind her and she giggled.
“Did mom sent you to be my friend?” Nutmeg asks me.
“Would you be mad if I tell you she did.” I ask her, wanting to be friends with her and all, but I don’t want to start it by a lie, or by having her mother pushing us together.
“Not really, that’s just like her, what happened to you?” she asks me.
“What do you mean?” I ask her.
think you need a friend? Cause I’ve lost mine, he moved away,” she says, explaining what happened to her.
“What happened to you for my mother to
“We just moved here, mom is some wolf mate, and I’m getting bullied in school,” I say honestly
“They want me to keep you safe?” Nutmeg asks and I nod, but she’s just as short as me, well not as much as me, she’s taller by a few proper inches, but nothing crazy.
“No offense but you look like you need protection and help,” I say,
looking at her.
“Flower, don’t offend me, I could protect you and your mother,” she
says.
“Hey!” I scold her and falls on her back laughing.
“Bitch,” I mumble and she pulls her head up to yell ‘heard you
You are one. I’m
“Good, because leaving,” I say, feeling hurt, did Wolf bring me here just to humiliate me?
“Hey, hey! Lotus, come on don’t leave, you made me laugh, I haven’t laughed in three weeks,” she says.
“Three weeks?” I repeat.
“Yeah, ever since my friend left, his name was Olive. I miss that jerk every day.” she says loosing her smile again.
“And being a bitch to me made you laugh?” I ask her
“I didn’t mean to offend,” she promises.
“Sure, sure.” I say rolling my eyes at her
“Come on, you’re my new best friend,” she says.
“That’s pushing it too far,” I say with eye roll. we’re hardly friends yet
“Fine, you’re my new friend who’s gonna become my best friend in the future,” she says with a smile.
“Okay that doesn’t sound too bad, I do need a friend,” I confess, I could use some help.
“So where do you come from?” she asks me.
“From the city, I live in the human lands.” I answer her.
“I was born here, and lived here my whole life,” she says with a shrug.
“I don’t think we share any classes together, what grade are you in?” I ask her. I was just a junior.
“I’m a senior, but we have a full year together,” she promises me with a smile.
“Hmm. okay,” I agree with her.
“So tell me more about you, tell me about the human lives. I don’t know much aout them, I just met a couple who moved in after mating. but those just turn into the wolf life,” she says.
“Human life, it’s like the one here, I go to school, I come home, I had some friends, we used to go out, do our homework together, but we didn’t have any wolves around,” I say, answering her.
“What about boys? Do you get to just date anyone you want?” she asks.
“Well…uhhh not anyone, it’s just people you click with,” I say, trying to explain dating for human.
with
“We have to wait till we find our mate, it’s no use to do anything anyone before, since you got a special one waiting for you.” she says.
“So you don’t date and just stay a virgin till you find your mate? Is wolf out there a virgin?” I ask, giggling, thinking of the idea that he’s the virgin and mom is not, she’d have teased him to hell and back.
16.30
“Uhhh…some of them yes, they stay virgins, others like to explore, it depends on the person, the military school makes you different,” she
says.
“Military school?” I ask her.
“All wolves after graduation have to go there, serve three years, and then we’re free to go to college or get a job or stay in the military.” Nutmeg says.
“So. next year you’re gonna join the military?” I ask her with wide eves, I didn’t know that all wolves had to serve.
“Yeah, but I’ll still live here of course, I don’t want to move out yet. I got mom to keep me safe, and it’s fun to have people around.” she says. “So wolves don’t move out when they’re eighteen?” I ask her.
“We live for some very long time, and we’re family creature, we prefer staying near,” she says.
“I can’t imagine being an adult and still asking my mom permission to do things.” I say, I know my mom is nice and all, but she won’t be that happy about me staying.
ult as you put it. by then you’d “Well you stop asking, once you’re an join the army, and instead of asking your mother for permission you’d be asking you commanding office, and you’d miss your mother, believe me,” she says.
“So you’d just change one authority for another,” I say with a sigh, feeling bad for her.
“It’s not that bad for us wolves, unless you’re the alpha there’s always
someone who’s in charge of you.” she says.
“And you’re okay with it?” I ask her.
“Well there’s people under me as well, so yeah, I don’t mind.” she says and I just nod, it’s a whole pyramid for them.
“So what do you do for fun?” I ask her.
“We can go to the woods and cause some mischief.” she says with a big smile.
“Are you sure you’ve been depressed?” Lask her.
“Three weeks, my new record,” she says.
“So you get depressed often?” I ask her.
“Not really, I get sad for an hour or two max, never three weeks, I can’t take being sad for too long, it affects the whole pack,” she says.
“Why? And how?” I ask, I had a million questions.
“We are all connected, so we’d feel each other sadness, and it drives them insane when someone who’s as strong as me is sad,” she says.
“You’re a beta like your mother?” I ask her next.
“I could be, potentials and all, but we won’t know till I’m older,” she says still explaining to me without any objection.
“You don’t mind me asking all of these questions,” I say feeling embarrassed.
“Nah, you got every right to know about your future life,” she says.
“Future life Nutmeg? Once I turn eighteen I’m moving back to the human lands,” I say, but I’m not going to wait until then, I’m moving a
lot earlier.
“You know Celine has brought you here for a reason, maybe there’s a wolf out there for you,” she says with a wink
“No, thank you, I don’t want any wolf mates,” I say my whole body shivering with the fear of the idea of being with a wolf
“What’s wrong Lotus?” Nutmeg asks quickly, noticing how uncomfortable I felt.
“Nothing. so about causing some troubles, let’s go?” I ask her and her smile returned.
