Lotus POV
As we were picked the berries, almost done, I had a million joke to make about Uncle Damian and I couldn’t wait to say them all to him later when we’re alone, but then we heard noise behind us, I jumped with fear, had a feeling I knew who was behind us. Uncle Damian was quick and stood in front of me, shielding me fully behind him, all I could see was his back and I doubted they could see me back.
“Didn’t I tell you not to come near her?” I heard him growl in the meanest voice ever, his alpha voice, he was the one in charge now, and he’s showing them that he is in control. I knew that information from all my research, I have passed by them and I then I went into deep dive to understand the different tones he uses. The wolves, they just whined and placed their heads down, it felt like they were talking back to him, making up some kind of excuses to why they came here and dropped by when they were told to keep their distance from me.
“I don’t care about your excuses, get back to the patrol, and don’t dare come near her again,” he yells and they ran away so quickly, I didn’t even make out their retreating tails, how quick could a wolf run? For real, it felt like they disappeared in thin air.
“Did you understand them?” I ask him when they were gone.
“Of course, I do, I’m their alpha, the least I could do is understand my people,” he answers me.
He sounded angry still, so I kept quiet while we walked home, it was a slower walk this time, he wasn’t running nor dragging me along with him, so I walked slowly with him, he held my hand as we walked, and he started to relax again.

Chapter 49
“They really pissed you off,” I whisper.

“I don’t want them to ruin this for you, if given the chance, they’d just surround you and look at you the whole day,” he says.
“Why would they do that? It’s weird,” I object.
“I know, I agree with you, but they’d do that when you’re the new mate, when you’re their alpha’s mate as well, you’re a new thing, the new shining toy and they are curious,” he answers me.
“Curious like cats?” I ask him.
“Yeah, just with bigger teeth and claws,” he answers me and I glared at him, he already knows I don’t like wolves that much, he doesn’t need to add to my fear from them.
“Believe me, as soon as you’re one, the fear will be gone,” he says again.
“What kind of therapy is that?” I ask him with a raised brow, he knew I was full of doubt.
“Exposing therapy, you go head first into the thing you’re scared of, and then the fear would disappear,” he answers me.
“Are you a licensed therapist? Cause you shouldn’t be one,” I object, making him laugh.
“I’m not, it’s just the way I think it’ll heal you the best,” he says.
“Heal me? I’m not sick, I just don’t like wolves, it’s personal preference,” I object quickly, feeling hurt.
“I didn’t mean it like that Lotus, phobia is a mental disease, and the word healing applies here,” he argues.
