Marissa nodded and said, "That's what my dad said, so it probably isn't just a baseless rumor."
"Mr. Jacobson probably had a hand in that," Summer said as she turned to Tessa.
Marissa agreed. "He probably did. After all, Bruno had picked on the wrong person, and he even threatened to…"
She trailed off before continuing, "Based on Stephen's personality, he would not let that incident go so easily. This time, he'll probably take the entire Tatum family down for you."
Although Marissa had not finished her previous sentence, Tessa and Marissa understood. After all, Bruno was the one who claimed he would hire someone to have their way with Tessa until she was dead.
Later on, Summer had found out from her contacts in Sudmere about Bruno's plan.
He had wanted to find a few men to take turns with Tessa until she was physically disabled. He also planned to record and post the whole thing on the internet.
Back when Summer had first heard of Bruno's insane plan, she could not help but pity Tessa despite them being at odds with each other. She had even spent a few hours cussing Bruno out.
"That's really satisfying! Stephen did a good job!" Summer clapped excitedly.
Meanwhile, Tessa felt conflicted.
After disembarking from the boat, she had purposely looked into the Tatum family, where she learnt about Adrian's position in Sudmere. She had also looked into Bruno's usual activities.
Bruno's ending was well deserved. It was also about time Adrian was taken down due to blind protection of Bruno.
However, one should not underestimate the authority and influence the Tatums had. So, Tessa was worried that Stephen would face retaliation.
Although Adrian had been locked up, he still had many loyal followers in Sudmere.
For example, those who had political and business ties with Adrian might want revenge on Stephen if Adrian really ended up in jail. After all, those people had benefited from the dealings they had with Bruno.
Seeing Tessa's worried expression, Marissa asked, "Are you worried about Stephen? Are you worried that someone might retaliate against him?"
Tessa nodded.
Marissa said, "You don't need to worry at all. It seems Stephen has shielded you well, and you don't understand him enough."
"This is my personal bodyguard, Wynn Barrett," Tessa introduced calmly.
"She looks fierce," Summer commented.
"Wynn's fighting skills are amazing. When I was drugged, she fought six men and beat those bastards into the ground," Marissa said.
"Seriously? It's no wonder you said you weren't scared. It's because you have such a strong fighter by your side," Summer said in awe.
Tessa replied, "Still, I'd like to thank you for the reminder. I'll bring a few more bodyguards with me when I head out next time."
"You're right. It's better to bring a few more people with you. After all, it's better to be safe than sorry."
Summer asked, "Also, do you know what happened to Cassidy, the one by Bruno's side? The consequences of her actions were pretty satisfying as well."
"I haven't paid her any attention and haven't bothered to see what she's up to after she posted that public apology and paid me the penalty for causing emotional distress."
