Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1121

Agnes couldn't help but echo the sentiment, "Things really have changed beyond recognition."

Elton spoke up, "You know, they've always wanted to see you again. Could you, for old times' sake, come home with me for a visit?"

Agnes frowned slightly at the request.

Elton offered a resigned smile, "I know it's a lot to ask, especially after how things ended between us. We're practically strangers now, but... it's my parents' dying wish. I haven't been the best son, and they're utterly disappointed in me. So, when they asked this one thing after moving back to the States, I couldn't say no. I had to at least try to reach out to you."

Hearing that Hancock Taylor was unwell made Agnes hesitate.

After all, the Taylor family had always been kind to her. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor had treated her like their own daughter since she was a child, with Agnes spending nearly half her childhood in the Taylor household. Moreover, Elton's mother and her own were close friends.

Since her breakup with Elton, and shortly after the Taylors had relocated, she hadn't seen them. Now that they were back, a visit seemed harmless enough.

Agnes responded, "When would be a good time? My husband and I could pay a visit."

Elton smiled, "How about tomorrow? I'll make the arrangements."

Agnes agreed.

The air between them grew thick with unspoken words, and soon after, Elton took his leave.

Once Elton was gone, Agnes looked around for Jared but couldn't find him. She started searching and eventually found him wandering around.

Agnes said, "Let's head back."

One arm slung over Nocturne's shoulder, Sprague commented, "Esther's amazing. Look at how nimble she is."

Nocturne glanced up and said, "Esther, come down. It's too dangerous."

Esther dismissed the concern, "I'm really good at climbing trees. Don't worry about me."

Esther had nearly reached the nest and managed to place the egg back inside. Just as she succeeded, the branch let out a creak and snapped halfway.

Hanging precariously, Esther's situation became dire. Sprague panicked, running under the tree. Nocturne quickly joined, suggesting, "Let's form a circle; we need to catch her if she falls."

As they prepared to catch her, Agnes and Jared arrived, spotting Esther dangling from the tree. Agnes's heart stopped at the sight.
