Hudson picked up the folder, and as the contents became clear, his eyes widened. His grip tightened until the heavy cardstock began to wrinkle.
It was a formal, finalized divorce agreement.
John watched his grandson’s reaction with a look of weary disappointment.
“Hudson, sign it. Let Jade go before this becomes a total disgrace for the family.”
“Grandpa…”
The veins in Hudson’s hand stood out in stark relief against the white paper.
A raw, primal fury was beginning to burn in the depths of his eyes.
“You’re actually siding with her? You want me to divorce my wife?”
John was still weak from his ordeal. After only a few minutes of conversation, his energy began to fail him, and he closed his eyes.
“Given the current state of your marriage, staying together is a slow poison. Ending it is the only mercy left for either of you.”
Hudson’s fingers slowly relaxed their grip on the folder, his knuckles still white and trembling slightly.
“Did Jade come here? Did she ask you for this again?”
“No, she didn’t.” John let out a dry, rattling cough.
“This is simply a promise I made to her before I collapsed.”
Hudson finally understood the depth of the betrayal he felt.
“So you asked her if she still wanted out, and she gave you the same answer?”
“Yes.”
John opened his eyes, pinning Hudson with a gaze that seemed to peel back every lie.

“Think long and hard about what you’re doing, Hudson. Don’t wait until you’ve both destroyed each other.”
Hudson drew a long, shaky breath, gripping the documents one last time before letting go.
“I will consider it. For now, just focus on your recovery.”
John’s tone turned into a command.
“I’m giving you exactly one week. If you haven’t fixed this by then, I will finalize the divorce myself the moment I am discharged.”
Hudson lowered his gaze to hide the storm of emotion in his eyes.
“Understood.”
The business was finished, and the Foster patriarch was clearly done with him.
“Now get out. You smell like a distillery and it’s giving me a migraine.”
Hudson didn’t argue; the scent of whiskey was indeed heavy on his breath.
“I’ll be back tomorrow.”
Shortly after Hudson departed, the family butler entered the suite.
John let out a heavy, soul-deep sigh.
“Hudson is blinded by his own ego. This is his final warning. Whether he survives this is up to him.”
The butler offered a quiet word of comfort.
“Don’t worry too much, sir. The young must find their own path through the fire.”
In the hospital parking garage.
Hudson leaned against the side of his car and lit a cigarette with steady hands.
Charles had stayed in the car and watched him approach, a curious look on his face.
“What did your grandpa want with you?”

Chapter 98 The Ultimatum
Hudson exhaled a thick plume of smoke into the cool night air.
“He gave me a divorce agreement. He wants me to sign it and end it with Jade.”
Charles arched an eyebrow, his tone dripping with unhelpful sarcasm.
“When even he is against you, you know you’re finished.”

Hudson didn’t snap back this time; he remained eerily calm, though he was smoking with a dangerous, aggressive intensity.
Bzz, bzz, bzz-
His phone vibrated against his thigh. He checked the screen: Amara.
After a moment of hesitation, he hit the green button.
“Hudson?” Amara’s voice was a watery, fragile sob, but there was an unmistakable ‘hook’ in her
tone.
“The power just went out in my villa. I’m terrified. Please, can you come over?”
Charles, listening in, felt a wave of pure revulsion and snatched the phone from Hudson’s hand.
“Amara, last I checked, Hudson put you in a five-star gated community. Do the lights just ‘go out’ there? If they’re off, call the maintenance crew. Why Hudson? Is he going to magically glow in the dark, or is he your new personal electrician?”
The manipulation was so blatant it was insulting to everyone involved.
“Charles…”
Amara was clearly stunned to hear Charles’s voice, her tone shifting into a panicked stammer.
“Why are you on his phone? Where is Hudson?”
Hudson reached out and reclaimed his phone from Charles with a blank expression.
