Hudson started to speak, but John turned a look of pure, murderous fury on him.

Hudson held out an arm to stop his mother, preventing her from getting too close.

“It’s fine. If Grandpa needs to hit me to calm down, let him. It was a misunderstanding.”

John was beyond reason now. Hearing Hudson’s excuses only made him more livid.

“Are you telling me that you and Amara actually…”

“No.” Hudson denied it with a sharp, angry scowl.

“I’ve told you, it’s a misunderstanding.”

Regardless of his denial, the memory of that photo made Emily doubt him for the first time.

“Amara is a widow with a child. Associating with her is a curse! Honestly, she isn’t even half the woman Jade is!”
