She ignored her, finished her clam chowder, and drove straight to the hospital.

After a series of scans and blood work, the results were in: the baby was perfectly fine.

The massive weight in Jade’s chest finally lifted, and she tucked the ultrasound into her bag. Just as she hit the parking lot, Anthony called.

“Jade, get over to the studio. My father is here, and he has some instructions for you.”

“I’m on my way.”

Jade hung up and steered her car toward the studio.

When she arrived, Edward wasn’t alone; he had brought several legendary restoration masters with him.

Jade greeted each one of them with respect.

After the introductions, she realized Edward had brought these experts specifically to mentor her and sharpen her ancient book restoration techniques.

Jade was a fast learner, absorbing every word from the masters. In just one intense day, she mastered a dozen new skills, and by sunset, she was still craving more.

As the session ended, Edward wore a wide, proud smile, clearly thrilled with her progress.

“I booked a table at a nearby steakhouse. Let’s grab dinner and discuss the details of the Harbor City project.”

Jade had no reason to say no. She packed up her tools and headed to the restaurant with the group of masters.

Meanwhile, back at the villa.

Hudson stood on the master balcony, his eyes fixed on the front gates.

As the sky bled into darkness, his expression grew colder, his lips pressed into a thin, jagged line.

“Hudson.”

A soft voice called from behind. Hudson turned to see Amara walking in, her eyes already rimmed with red.

“It’s been exactly thirty days since Ronald passed. A full month. I feel like my world is ending. Drink with me?”

Hudson looked at the raw vulnerability on Amara’s face and couldn’t find the heart to turn her away.

“If a drink will help numb the pain, then I’ll stay.”

Hudson retrieved the wine and two crystal glasses, and they stood by the window, sipping the dark red liquid in scattered, heavy silence.

Amara talked endlessly about Ronald, and Hudson found himself sinking into a similar gloom, drinking more than he intended.

When he tried to move away, his steps faltered and swayed. Amara quickly reached out to steady him.

Chapter 51 The Trap is Set

“Hudson, you’ve had too much. You need to sleep. The bed is right there.”

Hudson shook his head, his thoughts a murky fog, but this room was familiar territory. He let his guard down and allowed Amara to lead him toward the bed.

Amara helped Hudson onto the mattress. Seeing his eyes drift shut, she leaned close to his ear and whispered.

“Hudson? Hudson…”

She called his name several times, but Hudson was out cold.

A triumphant smirk curled Amara’s lips. She walked to the closet, pulled out one of Jade’s silk nightgowns, changed into it, and slid into bed right beside him.

It was nearly nine o’clock when Jade finally returned to the villa.

She was clutching a stack of notes, every inch of them covered in the techniques she’d learned from the masters.

She read as she walked, flipping through the pages with focused intensity.

Once she confirmed every note was in place, she finally looked up from the notebook and headed up the stairs.

Returning to the guest room, she found the bed stripped bare-no comforter, no sheets.

The bed was just a naked mattress, completely impossible to sleep on.

She didn’t know if this was Hudson’s petty move or if Emily had ordered Rosa to do it.

Jade’s brows pinched together in frustration. She dropped her bag and notebook and marched toward the master bedroom to Hudson.

She was dead serious about this divorce.

She didn’t understand why Hudson thought he could just brush it off every time, acting like her words were a joke.

But her mind was made up: she was done with Hudson Walter, once and for all.

lade reached the master bedroom and saw the door cracked open. She pushed it wide.

The room was dim, the balcony curtains open. The moonlight was enough to show her two figures entwined on the bed, deep in leep.

Jade’s mind went completely blank, her soul feeling as if it had been ripped out of her body. Her lips and hands shook with a violent, uncontrollable tremor.

Fighting her own body, she reached for the switch. Click.

The master bedroom flooded with light. Amara reacted first, rubbing her eyes as she sat up in bed.

“It’s so bright…”

Then Hudson groaned, pressing his palm to his temple as he sat up.
