Chapter 352 The Mastermind

He paused to let the words sink in, then offered Hudson a look of genuine pity.

“When you look at it that way, you really don’t have much of an edge, do you?”

Hudson leaned back, exhaling a long, weary breath, his eyes dark with a hidden depth.

He knew exactly how many vultures were circling his wife.

Julian Forster was just the first. Now there was this Bastian Hamlet character.

It didn’t matter.

He would deal with every single person who dared lay a finger on what belonged to him.

Hudson pulled out his phone and messaged Kevin.

“Send me the full dossier on Bastian Hamlet. Every detail.”

The Hamlet family in Faronne was an ancient line.

As the heir to the KOE Group, Howell was at the top of the food chain.

He didn’t believe a man like that had clean hands, or that his interest in Jade was purely accidental.

And if there was one thing Jade hated above all else, it was being lied to…

Buzz. Buzz, Buzz.

In her bed, Jade was pulled from a deep sleep by the relentless vibration of her phone.

She opened her eyes, sat up, and waited for her head to clear before reaching for the device.

The screen showed a new batch of photos from the private investigator,

There was Michael Merchant, his arm around his lead accountant, looking like he didn’t have a care in the world.

She scrolled through the images with a flat indifference. She picked the most explicit ones from the private folder and forwarded them to Cindy Merchant using a burner account.

Michael was having too much of a good time; it was time to give him a little shock to the

system.

Done with the task, Jade logged out, set the phone aside, and headed for the bathroom.

Faronne was sweltering; she changed into a light silk wrap dress she’d brought from home.

The deep emerald silk made her pale skin look like polished marble.

She pinned her hair back with a silver butterfly clip and looked in the mirror. She looked like a classic painting brought to life.

She was just leaving the bathroom when her phone rang.

She walked to the desk and saw it was Bastian. She answered.

Before she could say hello, his voice came through the line.

“Jade, that jacket I left in your room yesterday-did you have it dry-cleaned?”

Jade was meticulous by nature; seeing the suit on the rack, she had handled it immediately.

“I did. The hotel staff should be bringing it back any minute. When are you coming to pick it up?”

Bastian said, “I’m buried in meetings today. I won’t be able to make it over. Could I ask you a favor and have you drop it off at my office this afternoon?”

Jade found the request strange. She knew he’d need the suit eventually, but was it really that urgent? A man like Bastian couldn’t possibly be short on clothes.

But regardless of the oddity, it was his jacket. And since she was the reason it was ruined, she couldn’t find a reason to say no.

“Fine. I’ll bring it by,”

She hung up as the doorbell rang. She took the cleaned jacket from the staff and went to find Sarah Galbraith to head to the Klein Private Museum.

At the entrance, the director, Joseph, was waiting for them. He offered a refined, gentlemanly bow the moment he saw her.

“Ms. Merchant, welcome to the Klein Private Museum. We are honored to have you.”

Jade offered a polite, professional smile and held out her hand.

“Mr. Joseph Strong, the pleasure is all mine.”

Joseph wiped his palm with a silk square before carefully shaking her hand.

“The honor is ours.”

The contact was brief and professional.
