Chapter 332 The Inheritance
“Have you ever shown me a shred of respect?”
:
Perhaps it was the chill in Hudson’s eyes, but Bert froze mid-motion.
“What did you say?”
Hudson took a sharp breath, his eyes rimmed with a sudden, dark red.

“When I was a boy, you threw me to my grandfather and didn’t look back. When I was old enough to be useful, you dragged me back for endless business tutoring. Did you ever once respect my choices? Do you even know who I am?”
Bert let out a derisive laugh, as if the idea of Hudson having a soul were a joke.
“If I hadn’t forged you into this, you’d be nothing. Men want power and money. Stop talking to me about ’emotions. It makes you look weak!”
“I don’t deny that power matters,” Hudson said, his fists clenching as his fingers began to tremble.
“But I’m a human being. I have feelings. I’ve spent my life wondering if I’m actually your son, or just a high-yield investment for your legacy.”
“Is there a difference?”
Bert didn’t even look at him.
“Walters value the bottom line. In this house, profit is god, and everything else is secondary. That includes you.”
Hudson thought of something, the redness in his eyes deepening as his voice turned raspy.
“Jade wasn’t like that. She never was.”
In Jade’s world, there was no ‘bottom line.’ She barely even used his money.
Everything she gave him was pure.
She had nothing, yet she gave him everything she had.
“I’ll say it one last time-you are divorced!” Bert barked.

“The KOE deal is dead. You will honor our agreement and meet the Whitaker girl. Stop dreaming and focus on the assets in front of you!”
Assets. Always assets.
Hudson grabbed a coffee cup from the desk and hurled it at the floor.
The porcelain shattered into a thousand jagged pieces. A dark shadow settled in his eyes.
He had followed Bert’s rules his entire life because he hadn’t cared enough about anything to fight. He had been the perfect, obedient gear in the machine.
But not this time.
His desire to get Jade back had become a singular, all-consuming obsession.
He was a Walter. When he wanted something, he found a way to take it.
And he was taking Jade.
–
Jade finally tracked down Frank Chamberlain and managed to retrieve the original stock transfer documents her mother had drafted.
As she was leaving his office, her phone rang. It was Michael Merchant.
“Jade, your studio is the talk of the town! I’ve had several investors asking to meet the woman behind it. We’re at a steakhouse now. Can you come by? Maybe you can help your old man close a few deals?”
Michael’s original plan was to wait for her “investor introductions” and trick her then.
But he was clearly too greedy to wait. He was moving the timeline up.
Jade’s lips curled into a cold smile. She feigned a nervous hesitation.
“I don’t know anything about corporate negotiations. What if I blow it?”
“Don’t be silly,” Michael said dismissively. “They just want to see you. You just show up, and I’ll handle the rest.”
Jade let her voice trail off. “Well… okay then.”
She had to play the part of the obedient daughter to keep his guard down.

“Hurry up! Everyone is waiting!” Michael hung up and sent her a location.
Jade looked at the address, tucked her mother’s files into her bag, and headed for the steakhouse.
Half an hour later, at the restaurant.
Jade followed the hostess to a private room on the second floor.
