Jade wiped her tears. Maybe the only reason Michael hadn’t been so harsh before was that she still carried the title of Mrs. Walter, which was useful to them.

But now, seeing her determined to divorce Hudson, they must have felt she’d lost all her value, so they couldn’t even be bothered to pretend anymore.

The next morning, Jade received another interview invitation.

She gathered herself, put on some light makeup, grabbed her materials, and went downstairs.

Seeing Hudson, Amara, and Cortney in the living room, she lost all appetite for breakfast, planning to grab something on the way.

Just as she passed the sofa heading for the door, Hudson stopped her.

“Jade, come help me with my tie.”

His tone was casual, as if trying to pretend last night’s fight had never happened.

But it had, and the damage was done. No amount of pretending could change that.

Jade acted as if she hadn’t heard him, her expression unchanged as she kept walking.

Amara, sitting at the dining table, stood up and walked to Hudson’s side, reaching for his tie. “Hudson, here, let me.”

Hudson instinctively moved to avoid her touch, his eyes darting towards Jade. He then paused, letting Amara fix his tie.

In their three years of marriage, no one knew better than he did how much Jade adored him, how much she cared. He didn’t believe she could stay indifferent to this scene.

But to his surprise, Jade didn’t even break her stride. She walked straight out, leaving behind a determined silhouette,

For some reason, a sudden panic gripped Hudson. Before his mind could catch up, his feet were already moving, following Jade.

“Hudson!” Amara called, the tie loose in her hand as she hurried after him.

They both reached the entrance. In the courtyard, Amara caught his arm. “Hudson, your tie isn’t done.”

Hudson, seeing Jade had already vanished from sight, took the tie from Amara, freeing his arm, and deftly knotted it himself. “Go have breakfast with Cortney. I’m heading to the office.”

Amara stepped in front of him. “You haven’t eaten. Have something first.”

“No time. I’ll grab something at the office,” Hudson said, stepping around her and striding toward the gate.

Kevin was already waiting with the car. Hudson got in, and the Maybach slowly pulled away.

Amara stood there, watching the car disappear, biting her lip in frustration.

Aren’t people saying Hudson doesn’t love or care for Jade? That he marries her only because she’s docile, obedient, and easier to manage than other society girls?

She’d even asked Hudson herself, and he’d admitted as much.

But his reaction just now… it didn’t seem like indifference at all.

Inside the Maybach, Hudson’s fingers scrolled across his tablet.

He seemed to be reviewing documents, but he was actually looking through his chat history with Jade.

The screen was filled with messages from her, reminding him to eat, to dress warmly, to rest.

Even when he barely replied, she kept sending them, tirelessly, like the hands of a clock circling the center, never tiring.

But since the night of his birthday, those reminders had stopped completely.

She must be really furious…

Hudson tapped the screen. “Clear my schedule for tonight.”

“Do you have other plans, Mr. Walter?” Kevin asked.

“Yes. I’m going to an auction.”

“Understood, Mr. Walter.”
