From His Ex-Wife to the World's Most Sought-After Restorer (Jade and Hudson) novel Chapter 166

"Exactly. No adult with a shred of decency would pull something that ridiculous."

"Right? What kind of person sleeps with someone else's husband in the wife's night gown? The 'drunk' excuse is just pathetic."

"She keeps whining about being a poor widow, but her actions are a slap in the face to her late husband. If this were a hundred years ago, she'd have been fed to the sharks."

"..."

Hearing these blatant insults, Amara's face turned from pale to green, her eyes burning with a murderous fire.

She wanted to scream back, but her scandalous photos with Hudson were still fresh in everyone's minds.

Any defense now would just look like a cover-up and invite more ridicule.

That b*tch Jade did this on purpose!

Amara looked up and caught Jade's gaze, seeing a faint, unmistakable smirk playing on the other woman's lips.

She took a step forward, her hand itching to slap the smile off Jade's face.

It took every ounce of strength, her nails drawing blood from her palms, to shove her rage back down.

The situation was against her. She couldn't say another word; her only option was to ignore Jade and the sneering crowd.

Amara finally remembered why she was there and forced a stiff smile toward Harold Robbins.

"Mr. Robbins, you and my grandfather were such close friends. I'm only surviving now because the Walters are looking after me. I was hoping you could do my grandfather a favor and consider the Walter Group for your medical project."

Harold remained silent. As Amara looked into his eyes, she saw a flicker of genuine distaste.

She didn't dare push further and slunk away in humiliation.

Jade, meanwhile, lowered her head and let out a long, weary sigh.

The act immediately drew a wave of sympathy from the onlookers.

"Poor Ms. Merchant. She's the 'Mrs. Walter' in name only, but she has absolutely no power."

"I know. Watching her husband jump into bed with his childhood friend... I'd have had a total breakdown by now."

"Remember when the Walters tried to smear her just to protect Amara's reputation? It's heartbreaking."

"If she hadn't had proof, they would've ruined her! The Walters are just cold-blooded and ruthless."

Harold heard these whispers and looked at Jade with genuine concern.

"Are you alright, Ms. Merchant?" he asked gently.

Jade managed a fragile, forced smile.

"I'm fine. Thank you for your concern, Mr. Robbins."

She cast a subtle glance toward the direction Amara had fled.

Perfect. Everything was playing out exactly as she had planned.
