Chapter 135 No Strings Attached

“Julian! Jade! Get in the car now! The guards are going to be through that gate in seconds!”

Jade froze for a split second before Julian physically pulled her into the back of the car.

The Cullinan roared away from the estate just as Hudson and his team emerged from the gate, catching nothing but the sight of the receding taillights.

Hudson’s face turned into a mask of freezing, lethal fury, a storm he could no longer contain.

His fists were clenched at his sides, the veins in his hands bulging with a murderous energy.

“I want the owner of that Cullinan identified in ten minutes! Do you hear me?!”

Kevin Bickford bowed his head, his voice barely a whisper in the face of Hudson’s rage.

“I’m checking the plates right now, sir.”

Inside the luxury cabin of the Cullinan.

Jade glanced at Julian Forster several times, her words catching in her throat as she tried to find the right thing to say.

“Whatever is on your mind, just say it,” Julian said, offering her a lifeline.

Jade hesitated for another heartbeat before finally asking the question.

“Mr. Forster… how did you know I was being held there?”

She could barely find the words to describe the feeling of seeing him appear at the base of that wall.

It seemed that every time her world was on the verge of collapsing, he was there to pull her back.

She was grateful-so grateful that the debt felt heavy, leaving her feeling disoriented.

The kindness she received from Michael or Hudson was always a transaction, dependent on her obedience.

But Julian Foster’s support seemed to be offered without a single condition.

Could being “special” truly be enough for a man of his stature to risk this much for her?

She couldn’t understand it, and she couldn’t find the logic behind his actions.

Julian pulled his phone from his pocket and displayed his call history for her to see.

“I called you several times this morning and received no response. My instinct told me something was wrong, so I tracked your location.”

At the mention of the calls, Jade’s expression grew dark with the memory.

“They confiscated my phone. I was completely cut off.”

“I flew overseas yesterday after handing you the files,” Julian explained, tucking the phone away once she had seen the logs.

“Over breakfast, I realized my phone was silent. I expected a victory text, but when nothing came, I knew the Walters had made a move. My team traced your discharge from the hospital to the family estate, and I came as fast as I could.”

Jade looked away, her face flushing with a mix of shame and genuine regret.

“You’re right, Mr. Forster. I should have sent a message yesterday, but I was so overwhelmed I didn’t think.”

“Don’t apologize for surviving a crisis,” Julian said softly, his tone incredibly gentle.

“If you had messaged me, I might not have sensed the danger and wouldn’t have arrived in time.”

He was clearly trying to comfort her, and a wave of warmth flooded her chest.

“Thank you.”

“I’m just glad you’re safe.” As he spoke, the image of Jade perched on that wall-looking like a single breath could knock her off- made his heart skip a beat with residual fear.

Without realizing it, his hand moved across the seat to grip her slender wrist.

“I know you were desperate. But never bet your life again, Jade. No one is worth that risk.”

Jade’s skin burned under his touch, the heat radiating from her wrist directly to her heart.

She shifted uncomfortably, but Julian didn’t release his hold.

“Whatever happens in the future, you come to me first. I will handle it.”

The words landed with the weight of a solemn oath, a promise of absolute protection.

Jade froze, looking into his eyes and searching for the catch.

“And what is the condition for this help?”

Julian’s eyes were like a deep, fathomless abyss, drawing her in until she couldn’t look away.

“There are no conditions, Jade,”

Jade bit her lip, and for a long moment, they sat in a silence that felt like a bridge between them.

The temperature of his hand on her wrist continued to climb, spreading through her body like a slow-burning fire.

“Cough, cough, cough-”

A sudden, aggressive coughing fit from the front seat shattered the tension instantly.

Jade quickly pulled her hand away and tucked it behind her back, turning to look out the window.

She looked like a piece of rose-flushed porcelain, her ears and cheeks a bright, radiant pink.

Julian watched her for a few seconds longer before turning a cold, warning gaze on Jeff.
