“Laurinda?”
“Yeah, it’s Seraphina’s car.”
That was when Laurinda realized she still hadn’t told Seraphina that Adolphus was out of the hospital. Judging from the situation, it looked like Seraphina had come looking for them both.
Laurinda fished her phone from her bag and found several missed calls, just as she expected. She decided to call Seraphina back right away.
The phone hardly rang before Seraphina picked up, sounding absolutely thrilled.
“Laurinda, Kendrick told me Adolphus woke up! I went to the hospital to find you guys, but they told me he’d already been discharged. I’m at Lunaria Lakeside right now, about to pull up in front of your place.”
Seraphina’s voice was bubbling with excitement, and it was so contagious that Laurinda couldn’t help but smile. She gently interrupted before Seraphina could go any further.
“We’re not at Lunaria Lakeside. Adolphus is at my family home, recovering. I’m actually waiting just outside the complex. Drive out and you’ll see me parked by the road.”
Seraphina paused, clearly surprised that Adolphus wasn’t back at Lunaria Lakeside and that Laurinda even had a place in Cabinda.
“Wait, you bought a house here?”
Laurinda laughed lightly. “No, my parents had the place for years. Come out first. We can talk more when we get home.”
“All right, just wait for me.”
Seraphina never wasted time. She hung up, spun her car around, and was out of the neighborhood in minutes. Spotting Laurinda’s car right by the curb, she pulled over.
