"Are you finished?"
Grace’s expression didn’t change in the slightest at Ethan's words.
Ethan was taken aback. "Grace, this is a crucial lead! If you just..."
"If I just what?"
Grace scoffed. "If I just agree to forgive you for everything you've done?"
His intentions exposed, Ethan looked mortified but pressed on. "I just want to have dinner with you, to catch up. Grace, I genuinely want to help. I don't want to see you suffer. Damien's taken a huge fall this time. He might not recover, but I can help you…"
"Ethan."
Grace cut him off, her eyes filled with scorn.
"Do you think all men are as pathetic as you?"
Ethan looked away, unable to meet her gaze, but still tried to argue. "You…"
"Damien took a fall? You really underestimate him."
Grace pressed the up button for the elevator. "He doesn't need your 'help.' And as for me…"
She shot Ethan a look of contempt.
"I have nothing to do with you anymore."
With that, she didn't linger for another moment and stepped into the elevator.
As the doors slowly closed, Grace leaned against the elevator wall and let out a long sigh.
Seeing Ethan still brought back memories of all the pain.
But thankfully, she would never look back.
The elevator quickly reached the top floor.
The moment the doors opened, a loud crash echoed from the conference room.
"This is what you have to show for yourselves?!"
Damien's voice boomed from inside.
"Fake purchase orders! Fake inspection reports! And you only just found out he's gone?!"
Grace walked to the conference room door and peered through the glass partition, taking in the scene.
Damien stood at the head of the long table, his face a mask of fury.
The executives seated on either side of the table hung their heads in silence.
Felix stood to the side, holding a report.
"Mr. Clarke, the project manager for The Myriad Galleria left town before the holiday…"
