Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 317

Grace’s eyes had not left that spot for a single moment.

The instant Julian moved, Grace, with a desperate surge of strength, broke free from the thug holding her and threw herself forward.

“Look out!”

Time seemed to stretch.

Kneeling and weakened, Damien’s reaction was a half-second too slow.

By the time he realized the danger and looked up, he saw only a slender figure shielding him.

There was a sickening sound as the blade, which had been aimed at Damien’s heart, sank deep into Grace’s left shoulder.

Blood sprayed instantly.

A warm liquid splattered across Damien’s face.

“Urgh…” Grace grunted in pain as her body went limp and started to fall.

“Grace!!!”

Damien let out a roar, catching her as she collapsed. Seeing the bloodstain rapidly spreading across her chest, his world shattered.

“I’ll kill you!!!”

Damien shot to his feet and kicked Julian squarely in the stomach.

Julian went flying, slamming hard against the wall.

But it did nothing to quell Damien’s rage.

He lunged, straddling Julian, and rained blows down on him.

“You dared to hurt her! How dare you hurt her!”

Punch after punch landed.

Julian’s face was a bloody mess, unable to even cry out for mercy.

The surrounding thugs were stunned by the terrifying scene, and no one dared to intervene.

Lilian shrieked and cowered in a corner.

“Damien… don’t…”

A faint voice called out.

Damien’s raised fist froze in mid-air.

He turned and saw Grace lying in a pool of blood, yet still trying to reach a hand out to him.

In the hospital’s intensive care unit.

Grace had a long dream.

In the dream, there were no insults from Ethan, no beatings from her family, no betrayals from anyone.

There were only fields of flowers and a young man whose face she couldn’t quite see.

She slowly opened her eyes to a world of white.

The anesthesia was wearing off, and an excruciating pain shot through her shoulder.

“You’re awake? Don’t move.”

Grace turned her head and saw Damien.

He was wearing a hospital gown, an IV drip attached to his hand. His face looked even more haggard than hers, a patient fresh out of surgery. His eyes were sunken, his face covered in stubble, and he looked as if he had aged ten years overnight.

But the way he looked at her was so tender it felt tangible.

Seeing her awake, Damien reached out and carefully took her uninjured hand.

“Grandma…?” Grace asked, her voice raspy and dry.

“Grandma’s fine. She was just shaken up. She’s resting in the next room, and Elliot has people watching her around the clock.” Damien quickly dipped a cotton swab in water and moistened her lips. “Julian and Lilian have been arrested. The evidence is solid—kidnapping, extortion, and attempted murder.”
