Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 318

Grace let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding, the tension finally leaving her body.

She looked at Damien, her expression complicated.

Damien gave a bitter smile and buried his face in her palm, his shoulders trembling slightly.

“Grace, do you have any idea… when you stood in front of me, I would have rather that knife had been plunged into my own heart.”

A warm wetness seeped into her palm.

“You’re always like this…” Damien raised his head, his eyes red as he looked at her, his voice choked with emotion. “When are you ever going to live for yourself?”

“Does your leg hurt? Does your heart… hurt?”

This string of questions made Grace’s tears finally overflow.

“Damien…” Grace sniffled, looking into his bloodshot eyes. “It hurts.”

“It hurts so much.”

Damien’s heart shattered into a million pieces.

He bowed his head and reverently kissed the back of her hand, his touch as light as if he were afraid of disturbing dust.

“I’m sorry… From now on, let me feel the pain for you, okay?”

Grace looked at the sliver of sunlight filtering through the window and didn’t pull her hand away.

Her left shoulder was wrapped in thick gauze. Now that the anesthetic had worn off, the piercing pain felt like countless ants gnawing at her bones.

But this pain seemed almost insignificant compared to the despair she felt when her leg was broken years ago.

Damien sat by the bed, peeling an apple. The skin came off in one long, unbroken spiral.

“Want a bite?” He cut the peeled apple into small pieces and offered one to her.

Grace turned her head away.

“Damien, we need to talk.”
