Fated Marriage Spoiled by My Ice Billionaire novel Chapter 132

The two chess players finally noticed Damian and Isabelle standing to the side.

"Mr. Callum Savage," Damian smiled.

"Mr. Callum Savage," Isabelle said.

Callum stood up, walked over, and gave Damian a firm hug, slapping his shoulder heartily.

He said, "Goddamn, I thought you'd gone soft and weren't coming. Seems the muscles are still there. Been keeping up the training?"

Damian gave a wry smile. "Still as improper as ever in your old age."

Isabelle wasn't sure what to make of the scene.

The other man stood up, looked them over, and his gaze settled on Isabelle. "Isabelle."

"Mr. Whitaker," Isabelle smiled.

They shook hands politely, a silent understanding passing between them to say no more.

Callum looked surprised. "You two know each other?"

Griffin Whitaker gave a slight nod. "A former student of mine."

Isabelle smiled.

Then, Callum led Damian away, leaving Isabelle and Griffin to their chess game.

"Haven't seen you at the studio lately. Been busy?" Griffin asked, moving a white piece.

Isabelle, holding a black piece, responded calmly, "Busy getting married."

"Married already? I was hoping to introduce you to someone."

"It was... unexpected," she said, a rare, knowing smile on her lips.

Griffin studied the board, his tone thoughtful. "There's no such thing as 'unexpected' in this world."

Isabelle's hand, holding the chess piece, paused.

He's right. What seems like an accident is usually planned long in advance.

She nodded in acknowledgment and placed the black piece decisively.

The game was a stalemate, neither side giving ground.

At some point, Callum and Damian had returned to watch.

Callum remarked, "Your wife seems sharper than you."

Damian looked at her.

A ray of evening sun slanted through the window, illuminating her profile and casting light across the chessboard.

She reached up to tuck a stray strand of hair behind her ear, her entire being softened by the gentle glow.

A smile spread across Damian's face.

He nodded. "Proves my taste is good."

Callum rolled his eyes.

Griffin set down a white piece, looking somewhat unconvinced but unable to find the right words.

Callum saw his awkwardness. "Oh, give it up! It's about time someone put you in your place. You've been winning all afternoon—what's one loss? Losing to your own student is no shame."

Griffin retorted with a sarcastic smile, "Says the one who's been losing all afternoon?"

Isabelle smiled, carefully resetting the pieces before standing up.

Damian moved to her side, ruffled her hair, then let his large hand slide down to rest on her shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. "Tell me. Is there anything you can't do?"

Aurora snorted. Just who is this Isabelle, that so many people revolve around her?

Isabelle gets to sit at the head table? And she's laughing and talking with them.
