If she got that interest, it would be as if she hadn’t lost any money on her last investment at all. After a quick calculation in her head, Bella decided this deal was worth pursuing. A smile returned to her face.
Debbie continued her persuasion. “Bella, don’t you worry. I’ll personally guarantee this loan. I’ll make sure my friend pays you back, principal and interest.
“With our relationship, would I ever try to scam you?
“You’re my future daughter-in-law. All I want is for you to have plenty of your own money.
“You’re about to marry my son and join the Blake family. Life inside a powerful family like that isn’t always easy.
“I only know a little about it, but that's why I want you to marry into the family with a lot of your own money. It will give you more say in things.
“I’m doing all this for you. And don’t worry about my friend. Even if something happens on her end, I’ll make sure your money is the first thing she pays back. I guarantee you won’t lose a dime.”
With Debbie’s assurance, Bella grew bolder. She was right. What was their relationship? They were practically mother and daughter-in-law. Family wouldn't hurt family. That was impossible.
“Debbie, I know some people I could borrow from to cover this. The thing is, their interest rates are pretty high. I can help get the loan, but the interest…”
She figured she could use her reputation to get a loan from some sharks. After all, she was about to marry into the Blake family, and her name carried some weight now. As long as Debbie agreed that her friend would cover the interest payments, she had nothing to fear.
Debbie understood immediately and agreed. “Don’t worry, Bella. You’re the one helping to borrow the money, so of course you shouldn’t be the one paying the interest. That’s separate from your share. I know how this works. You can trust me. Would I ever steer you wrong?”
*She's right. She's my mother-in-law.*
