Ethan was by Leonard’s side again today. Hearing that comment, he couldn’t help but quip, “Sir, with a move like this, what chance does the Mercer family have of surviving?”
Leonard shot him a glance, and Ethan added, “This is a completely unfair fight. The Mercers could never have dreamed that a small company like theirs would provoke an international powerhouse like you into personally manipulating the market.”
Seeing Leonard’s expression darken, Ethan quickly changed his tune. “But you can’t be blamed, sir. The Mercer family brought this on themselves. It serves them right. Who told them to be so foolish as to bully Ms. Mercer for so long?”
Having been with Leonard for a long time, Ethan knew how to read him. His understanding allowed him to say exactly the right thing.
Leonard’s expression softened. It wasn't that he was deliberately targeting the Mercer family; they deserved whatever was coming to them, didn't they?
How long had it been? They had bullied Lillian constantly, acting as if she had no one to back her up.
Then again, Lillian wasn't one to be easily pushed around.
She had a plan in mind but was holding back for now, mainly because she was too busy.
Leonard could have wiped out the Mercer family with a single blow, but he wanted to leave some of the fun for Lillian.
At the designated time, Leonard gave the order, and his entire team sprang into action.
Meanwhile, the members of the Mercer family had gathered in the chairman’s office, popping champagne.
Each was calculating how much money they would pocket from this venture.
As four o'clock approached, the Mercers, including Sebastian, prepared to make their move.
However, when they tried to act, they discovered that the Mercer Group's stock had been shorted in an instant.
The share price, which had been at its peak, plummeted.
Leonard watched the data on the large screen, a faint smile playing on his lips.
The Mercer family was greedy. This move was sure to wipe them out completely.
Sabrina asked anxiously, “So what should we do now? Do we sell immediately, or wait and see if it rebounds?”
Martin studied the data seriously, calculating the potential gains and losses.
Cashing out now would still net them a substantial profit.
However, selling at this moment might trigger a panic sell-off from others.
If that happened, it would be detrimental to the company.
As chairman, he couldn't ignore the company's interests.
Though he felt a knot forming in his stomach, he spoke gently to Sabrina. “Don’t worry, this kind of volatility is normal. Relax, it will bounce back soon. We’ll sell after the rebound. Selling now would be wasting this golden opportunity.”
He then turned to the others. “Everyone, listen to me. I have a backup plan. I want you to throw whatever spare capital you have at this. We’ll buy up everything that’s being sold.”
