For a moment, neither Mr. nor Mrs. Blake knew how to respond to Lillian.
Bringing up something like asking her to help secure the Blake Group's future felt completely inappropriate at this point.
Lillian no longer had any connection to the family; she likely wouldn't be able to help even if she wanted to.
Most importantly, it seemed Lillian had no desire to get involved in the Blake family's affairs.
"It's nothing… We just missed you and wanted to see you on the weekend, have a meal together."
Lillian, who had been tense and mentally preparing how to refuse any requests, felt a wave of relief.
Thankfully, Mrs. Blake didn't ask for anything.
If it was just a simple meal, she was more than willing to keep the two elders company.
The Blakes were reasonable and forward-thinking. Both had spent a lifetime navigating the business world, and there was so much one could learn from them.
Lillian enjoyed being around people like them; it was relaxing and pleasant.
In the past two years, she had come to realize just how ridiculous the idealized filter through which she had once viewed Sebastian truly was.
Sebastian himself seemed completely oblivious that the most capable people were right by his side. He could have learned from them whenever he needed, yet he never did.
In Lillian's memory, Sebastian had always been a bit too arrogant.
The waiter happened to bring the dishes, and Lillian smiled. "If you don't mind, we can get together anytime on the weekends.
"However, I really can't get involved in the Blake family's private matters. I'm afraid there are many areas where I won't be of any help, so I hope you can understand."
Lillian's words once again left the old couple at a loss.
Their plans and intentions were not something they could voice right now.
