Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 483

Old Mr. Blake was deeply disappointed, and Mrs. Blake had nothing more to say. Their perfect son had died long ago.

If the Blake Group was to continue its downward trajectory, there would be little opportunity for the next generation or two.

Suddenly, Mrs. Blake said, "Sebastian, your father has agreed to your marriage with Miss Ward. As for the license and the wedding, you can handle it all yourselves.

We have no other opinions. You young people can do whatever you like, as long as it doesn't interfere with your work."

As she spoke, her voice was laced with a disappointment that ran to her very core.

The old couple had wanted to support Sebastian a little longer, to help him choose a wife who could benefit both him and the Blake Group's development. At the very least, a strategic marriage with a family of equal standing could have secured the company's future.

But Sebastian had severed all those possibilities, single-mindedly choosing Bella.

His mind was made up, and there was nothing they could do.

Sebastian heard that they had agreed, but he couldn't feel any happiness.

At first, he had wanted to rush to Bella and tell her the good news himself.

But on the drive back, his mind was filled with the image of his father's utterly disappointed back and his mother's sigh after she had given her consent.

That image and that sound were a complete rejection of him as a person.

Sebastian had always been an incredibly proud man. He could handle his father's scolding, even his anger, but that expression of disappointment and surrender stung him deeply.

Was Bella really so terrible in their eyes?

It couldn't be, could it?

Sebastian had already driven to the Mercer family's villa, but he suddenly stopped the car outside without going in.

He sat in the car, dazed, his mind a chaotic mess of his parents' expressions.

If we can get through it, we'll be fine."

Old Mr. Blake took the tea, set it down, and gently took his wife's hand. "Charlotte, you're the only one who truly understands."

Charlotte came from a prestigious family. Though her marriage to Mr. Blake was arranged, they had also been childhood friends.

They shared a deep bond and had understood each other implicitly for years.

Aside from the insertion of Debbie, which was the one blight on their lives, the old couple had supported each other through everything.

They knew each other best.

"It's come to this. What else can we do?"

Old Mr. Blake felt a heavy weight in his chest, but hearing his wife's words, he slowly let out a breath. "It's not as if we're completely out of options. Perhaps… she can still be the hope for the Blake family's future."
