“Ma’am, now that you’re back in Northwyn, would you like to see Old Mr. Blake again? He’s older now, but he’s still quite handsome.”
At the word ‘see,’ Debbie’s heart skipped a beat, then started pounding like a drum.
Was she kidding? The Blake family could not find out she was in Northwyn.
If they did, they’d ship her off immediately.
She was having too much fun here to leave.
The casinos elsewhere had all banned her.
She had finally found this place, and they’d given her a two-hundred-million-dollar line of credit. Her luck had been incredible lately; she was winning every game she played. There was no way she was letting them send her away.
As Debbie sank into a state of worry and fear, trying to figure out how to shut down Bella’s suggestion, Bella misinterpreted her expression.
She thought Debbie was lost in memories of Old Mr. Blake.
She even tried to comfort her. “I’ve met the old Mrs. Blake before. She’s old now, and even though she takes care of herself, you can’t hide her age.
I bet Old Mr. Blake doesn’t feel much excitement or interest when he looks at her old, wrinkled face.
After all these decades, he must be sick of looking at her.
Ma’am, I promise, the moment you show up, it’ll be like a new lease on life for him.
Who knows, maybe he’s been missing you all these years, too, but felt constrained by his wife in name only.
You must both miss the old days, right?”
Debbie glanced at Bella and scoffed internally. Miss the old days? What was there to miss? She didn’t want to remember a single thing about that time—studying his every move, his preferences, even his temper, day in and day out.
Her job was already exhausting, but she had to keep it to stay close to Mr. Blake.
It had taken every trick in the book to finally land him.
