Sabrina was the person Martin missed most during his days in custody.
Seeing her looking so frail upon his return, his heart ached for her even more.
The couple hugged and cried emotionally.
Pushed to the side, Bella was stunned by the scene.
She knew her mother was a talented actress, but she had no idea her skills were this incredible.
She had seen Martin approaching when she stepped out for a moment and had come back to tip her mother off. The two of them had then orchestrated this little performance.
Bella had thought that after several days of rest, Sabrina would be glowing with health and full of energy, making it hard to fake an illness.
But she had managed to hold her breath and force a cough, creating this convincing display. It was truly astonishing.
If Bella hadn't seen it with her own eyes, she would never have known her mother was so capable.
While Sabrina was acting, Martin’s tears were real.
He had suffered quite a bit during his time in jail. He wasn’t in a private cell and the other suspects were all vicious-looking men.
There was even a murderer waiting to be transferred to the judiciary.
Sharing a room with people like that, Martin had teetered on the edge of being bullied and having an emotional breakdown every single day.
He had barely managed to regain his freedom.
Now, seeing Sabrina, all his vulnerability came rushing to the surface, and he couldn't hold back his emotions any longer.
After they finally calmed down, Bella quickly made an excuse. “I have to get back to the office. Dad, Mom, I’ll leave you two to talk.”
With that, she quickly slipped away.
Sabrina and Martin, of course, had endless things to say to each other, though it was mostly Martin talking and Sabrina listening.
I’ve been out of town for so long, and just returned to Northwyn. Making a move like this really helps my image. Now, they’re all much closer to me.
I have you to thank for all of this, Bella. You’re my good luck charm.”
Debbie’s words made Bella extremely happy as well.
When Debbie pressed the check into her hand again, she accepted it.
Looking at the number on the check, Bella felt a surge of joy.
Debbie really was something else. It was no wonder she had given birth to the heir of the Blake Group.
“Bella, you should come hang out more often. I’ll take you shopping.”
Bella was surprised. Could this be a sign that Debbie had truly accepted her?
Debbie had been in Northwyn for a while now, and this was the first time she had offered to take her shopping. The implication was clear: she wanted to buy her things.
