Sabrina grabbed her hand. “It’s too late now. We’ve already signed. There’s no point getting worked up about it. If you ask me, those two Mercer brothers are getting smarter. They’ve been putting on an act for us all this time.
I have a feeling there will be plenty more fights in our future.”
Bella gritted her teeth in frustration. “They wouldn’t even part with a hundred million dollars, always pretending to be broke. What’s the point? And now they’ve trapped us, tying us to the same sinking ship.
Mom, you miscarried a child, and this is what you get in return. Are you really okay with that?”
Sabrina, who had been packing to leave the hospital, abruptly sat back down on the bed, leaving her things untouched.
“Okay with it? Martin is still wrapped around my finger. He’ll do whatever I say.
As for his sons scheming against us, their father will settle the score for me once he’s out.
Nothing else matters.”
With that, Sabrina lay back down on the hospital bed. “When he gets out, tell him what happened. And don’t forget to mention that I was supposed to be discharged today, but I was too upset by all this.”
Bella, who had been scowling, couldn’t help but crack a smile.
“Mom, you’re incredible. You come up with these things so easily. I guess I still have a lot to learn from you.”
“You grew up watching me, and you still need to learn? Honestly, you have no natural talent for this. No wonder you still haven’t managed to lock down Sebastian.”
“Who says? He’s already agreed to marry me, and we’re starting to plan the wedding.
It’s just that his parents still have a problem with me.
Mom, I want to arrange a meeting between Debbie and Old Mr. Blake as soon as possible.
If they can reunite after all these years, maybe it’ll bring back some of those old, warm feelings.”
Bella listened intently, thinking her mother’s advice made perfect sense.
It was a shame Lillian wasn’t there to hear it.
If she had been, she would have laughed out loud.
She knew that the only woman Old Mr. Blake had ever loved was his wife.
As for Debbie, she was a thorn in his side. Even Debbie herself was well aware of that fact.
“You’re a genius, Mom. I’m actually meeting Debbie later today, so I’ll ask her then. As long as his parents are no longer an obstacle, Sebastian and I can have our wedding without any trouble.”
“By the way, when you and Sebastian discussed the wedding, did he say how you’re going to do it? It can’t just be a simple trip to the courthouse, right?
