Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 381

Martin took the agreement and signed it without a second thought, adding his thumbprint.

He then handed the agreement to his eldest son, Brandon.

Brandon looked conflicted. He had already heard the guests murmuring that it was too harsh for the Mercer family to give Lillian nothing.

He couldn't help but speak up again. "Dad, don't be impulsive. Maybe you should reconsider. Lillian might just be confused for a moment. We can still fix this…"

Before he could finish, Martin cut in. "Do you want to get thrown out of the Mercer family like her? If so, you'd better sign this disownment agreement just like she did and cut all ties with the Mercer family from now on."

Brandon was left speechless. He picked up the pen, signed his name on the agreement, and pressed his thumbprint onto the paper.

He then passed the document to Colin.

Seeing that Brandon had signed, Colin felt he had no other choice.

He always had to be on the same side as Brandon. His eyes kept darting toward Lillian, and for a moment, their gazes met. He seemed to have a guilty conscience and quickly looked away, then lowered his head to sign and add his thumbprint.

After both parties were finished, the lawyers from each side also signed and stamped the documents.

The disownment agreement was made in duplicate. Lillian took one copy, and Martin took the other.

Looking at the document in her hand, Lillian finally felt a sense of relief. "From now on, I have nothing to do with the Mercer family."

Martin sneered, "Of course you don't. Lillian, if it weren't such a hassle to change a last name, you wouldn't even deserve to be a Mercer."

Lillian didn't get angry at his words. Instead, she smiled. "That's fine. It's not like you're the only Mercer in all of Northwyn.

"At worst, I'll just find another man named Mercer for my mom to marry. Whether he's a laborer or a beggar, as long as his last name is Mercer, I'll still be a Mercer."
