Bella was a smart girl who had been coached in these matters since she was young. Of course she understood.
Once the mother and daughter had analyzed the situation and settled on a plan, Sabrina watched her phone. When Martin called again, she finally answered.
Instantly, Martin's voice came through the line. "Sabrina, did you just spend a large sum of money? A transaction for over ten million? What did you do? You haven't been scammed, have you?"
Martin's voice was filled with tension and worry.
Sabrina's lips curled into a faint, cold smile, but she quickly composed herself.
"Honey, weren't you the one who told me to buy Bella a house? You said to get her a large place, over two thousand square feet.
"We were out looking at properties today, and Bella fell in love with a twenty-six hundred square foot place. We just signed the contract and bought it.
"Honey, are you mad at me for spending too much?
"If you don't approve, I can go back and cancel the purchase right now.
"It's not too late. We'll just lose a little on the cancellation fee. Hold on, I'll go ask the agent right now..."
Before she could finish, Sabrina shot Bella a look.
Suddenly, Martin heard Bella's voice through the phone. "Mom... Mom, what's wrong? Mom, don't faint! Mom!"
After her cries, the line went dead.
Martin's heart skipped a beat.
Sabrina was carrying his child. A child they'd had so much trouble conceiving at their age. If something happened, what would he do?
