Mrs. Blake forced a smile onto her face.
"Alright, Howard, stop arguing with the boy.
"He's grown up now, and he has his own ideas. We should respect them.
"As for Lillian, she's being looked after by the best doctors. It doesn't really matter whether she comes back or not."
With that, Mrs. Blake handed the teacup in her hand to Old Mr. Blake. "Have some water. Calm down."
Then she turned to Sebastian. "Sebastian, your father is getting old. Don't argue with him.
"We went to see Lillian ourselves today.
"She doesn't want to come back. She said since you're divorced, her returning would interfere with your plans to remarry.
"We've made our concern for her clear, and the doctor treating her now is the one we contacted before.
"You don't have to worry about the quality of her care. He's one of the top doctors in the world. He'll cure her.
"Don't worry. Your father is tired.
"Look at what a mess the house is today. You should just head back to the office.
"It's probably for the best if you live somewhere else for a while."
Mrs. Blake didn't want to see Sebastian.
Her own son was gone, which was the only reason she and her husband had been forced to hand the company over to him.
But the things Sebastian had just said made her deeply uncomfortable.
Her son had passed away as an adult. The maternal bond forged over two decades was suddenly severed, and she would never see him again.
That kind of pain was almost too much for a mother to bear.
