Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 241

"Mom, it's me, Lillian. I'm Lillian."

Lillian approached Eleanor Lancaster with the patience one would use with a small child, moving slowly and gently so as not to alarm her.

Eleanor's attention was drawn to her. Lillian, who was a head taller than her mother, bent down and gently embraced her, resting her head against Eleanor's chest as if she were a little girl again.

"Mom, it's me, Lillian. The Lillian you love the most, remember?"

She nuzzled her head into Eleanor's embrace, just as she had when her mother held her as a child.

Eleanor, who had been in a frantic state, gradually calmed down as she felt someone seeking her protection and comfort. She looked down tenderly and gently stroked Lillian's head.

"Lill… ian… love Lillian…"

Lillian kept her head against Eleanor's chest, letting her mother feel the solidness of her presence, before slowly looking up into her eyes.

"It's Lillian. It's Mommy's little Lillian."

A faint smile touched Eleanor's eyes, and her face softened.

"It's Lillian? My Lillian?"

Lillian nodded. "Yes."

Eleanor grew quiet, seemingly forgetting about Brandon for the moment. She gently stroked Lillian's forehead and spoke to her softly.

Seeing Eleanor's condition improve, a doctor quickly brought out a first-aid kit to treat Brandon's wounds.

After calming her mother, Lillian had the doctor take her away to rest.

Lillian hadn't intended to come downstairs. She had dealt with too much today and was feeling exhausted. But she hadn't expected Brandon to have the audacity to provoke their mother.

The doctor's recent feedback had been positive, saying her mother was responding well to treatment and would soon be ready for the next phase. Lillian had been happy to hear it.

But now it seemed her mother was indeed remembering things. Brandon looked a lot like their father. In her mother's fragmented memory, Brandon's youthful appearance probably matched the time when she had loved their father most, and also when he had hurt her the most. That would explain her violent reaction.

Lillian walked over to Brandon. "For her son's sake, I've already been very lenient with you. Get your wounds treated and go home. Don't cause any more trouble here. Mom and Grandma are both here, and making a scene won't solve anything."

She continued, "Ten years ago, Mom's shares were worth at least three hundred million. Today, even at a premium, they're only worth a hundred million. The extra value is just the price of animosity. Brandon, you're not an idiot. You know perfectly well what state the Mercer Group is in. You hold a significant number of shares yourself. Do what you will with that information."

"What's that supposed to mean? The Mercer Group isn't what it used to be, so now you look down on the shares? You already gave back all the shares in your name. On their wedding day, you got rid of Grandma's shares too. And now, you've sold off Mom's shares.

Lillian, what are you trying to do?

I told you I'd give you cash if you needed it for Mom's treatment. I agreed. But these shares belong to the Mercer family. What right do you have to sell them to outsiders?"

Lillian was stunned that Brandon hadn't understood a single word she'd said. If that was the case, there was nothing more to say.

She gave a small, bitter laugh. "Brandon, don't be a stranger. Technically, Sabrina is your stepmother now, and Bella is your sister.

Have you forgotten how close you all used to be? Why are you calling them outsiders now?

They're hardly outsiders, are they?
