Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 159

When Bella mentioned Sebastian, her eyes clouded over.

The moment Lillian had appeared, Sebastian’s eyes had been glued to her.

Yes, she had to admit, even from a woman's perspective, Lillian was beautiful.

Lillian's beauty was the kind that could drive other women mad with jealousy.

But she was beautiful too; she wasn't that far behind.

So why was it that Sebastian only seemed to have eyes for Lillian?

What did that make her?

It was Sebastian who had chosen to let Lillian go to prison instead of her!

Soon, a staff member came in to help, and the mother-daughter duo paused their conversation.

Bella stepped aside to make a phone call, then returned shortly after to help Sabrina choose an outfit and hairstyle.

Martin had already changed into a new suit and was out mingling with important guests. When he approached the head table and saw Lillian, his anger flared up again.

Lillian, having eaten and drunk her fill, sat there with an air of untouchable confidence.

Martin found it strange. Given Lillian's personality, shouldn't she have left after causing a scene?

Why was she still here, lingering after the meal?

Could it be that she was planning something else?

Martin grew anxious. He had intended for Brandon to join him in greeting the VIPs, but he was more worried about Lillian causing another scene. He insisted that Brandon stay behind to keep an eye on her.

Brandon had wanted to network; some of the guests today were important contacts for him.

Unfortunately, now he was stuck at the head table.

Sebastian had barely eaten anything, likely due to a lack of appetite.

Brandon poured two glasses of wine, offering one to Sebastian.

"Sebastian, Lillian's been back for a while now. You two should really sit down and talk.

"Being separated like this for so long is bad for a marriage.

"Weren't you two planning on having a second child? You should get on that."

For once, Sebastian accepted the drink and downed it in one go.

Only he knew the bitter truth. His incompetent lawyer had taken the divorce papers he'd signed in a fit of anger and officially filed them.

He and Lillian were no longer husband and wife in the legal sense.

Their marriage had been a secret, known only to close family.

And now, their divorce was also a secret, known only to him and his lawyer.

Sebastian glanced at Lillian. He dreaded to think how happy she would be if she knew their divorce, which she had so desperately wanted, was already finalized.

Lillian retorted, "Brandon, if you're going to be like this, it's not very interesting. I might as well go find something more interesting to do."

Brandon had hoped to pawn Lillian off on Sebastian so he could go network.
