Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 73

Emma’s nose was bleeding profusely. It took a long time to get it under control, by which point they were both stained with blood.

Evan swept her up into his arms and carried her into the master bathroom.

He turned on the faucet, carefully adjusting the temperature. Once the tub was nearly full, he shut off the water and walked over to Emma.

“Why did you bleed so much? I don’t remember you ever getting nosebleeds before.”

Emma frowned, her face pale from the blood loss. “It’s nothing. The air’s probably just been too dry since winter started.”

Evan gently wiped the remaining blood from her face with a damp towel. “I’ll have Jason send over a humidifier tomorrow, then.”

Both of their clothes were spattered with blood, some of it still wet and sticky, looking both disgusting and unsettling.

He stripped off his own clothes first, then reached for Emma’s, intending for them to shower together and get clean.

But the moment his hand touched her collar, Emma slapped it away forcefully.

Evan froze, stunned. “What’s wrong?”

His expression was hurt, confused by her strong reaction.

But Emma just clutched the collar of her shirt, her posture defensive as she shrank back. “...I’ll do it myself.”

At that, Evan’s face instantly darkened. “You’re a mess right now, and you smell like blood. I’m not that perverted.”

She knew he had misunderstood her.
