Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 63

Their bodies were close together as they walked into the supermarket like any other couple.

Evan felt a little dazed, following her distractedly. He was only subconsciously aware of where Emma was going, his feet following her lead.

They went to the lower level first. Spotting a display of various quirky and cute ceramic mugs, Emma immediately let go of his hand and walked over. She picked up a peculiar mug shaped like a flower blossom and held it, unable to put it down.

“This is beautiful…”

The mug was painted in a riot of colors with little flowers all over it. The rim was shaped like petals, the lid like a leaf, and the handle was a green-painted stem.

Evan walked over to stand beside her, looking at the cup in her hands—a mix of quirky and almost ugly. He smiled. “You really like it?”

Emma’s eyes never left the mug. “It’s alright,” she said, her voice casual.

Evan chuckled, took the mug from her, and handed it to the store employee who was following them with a shopping cart.

“If it’s alright, we’ll take it.”

Emma glanced up at him, a faint smile in her eyes, but she didn’t object.

They continued walking, and as they were about to head to the second floor, Evan remembered something.

Emma had called him a while back to complain that their mattress was uncomfortable, saying it always made her back ache in the morning. He suggested, “Do you want to get a new mattress? You said the old one wasn’t comfortable.”

That had been a long time ago, before Emma had even gone to the hospital for her check-up. She was surprised he still remembered after all this time. She paused for a moment, then quickly recovered and smiled. “Sure.”
