Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 275

Melissa hadn't come home all night.

Although she had been tempted to go back several times while at the hospital, her pride had stopped her. She didn't want to appear weak in front of Evan.

But without financial independence, without her own money, she was bound to be on unequal footing with him.

Melissa arrived back at Kingsbridge Park around eight in the morning. The apartment was completely silent.

She quietly slipped off her shoes and walked inside, immediately noticing the leftover dinner on the table.

She figured it was Evan's dinner from last night. Looking at the nearly full plates, it seemed he had only taken a bite or two of each dish. The rice in his bowl was also untouched.

A knot of panic formed in Melissa's stomach. She couldn't help but think that the reason he'd eaten so little was because he was upset with her for not coming home.

He might not show it or say anything, and he might even act like he didn't care, but in reality—

Melissa felt a strange mix of sadness and happiness. She realized that, at the very least, while she was unhappy, Evan hadn't been having a good time either. At least he was still thinking of her.

A noise came from the master bedroom. The door opened, and someone walked out.

"E-Evan."

Seeing the man emerge from the room, Melissa felt a sudden wave of shyness and fear.

But—

Evan just gave her a brief nod and walked straight past her into the bathroom.

His expression was calm. He didn't say a word, didn't ask a single question—not where she was last night, not why she didn't come back. Nothing.
