Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 223

Averton City, at the upscale club JDY.

The air was thick with neon lights and the smell of alcohol. Shadows danced across the floor, while the booths were shrouded in a haze of cigar smoke and perfume.

Daniel picked up a gin and tonic the bartender had just made and handed it to the man next to him. He then picked up a margarita for himself, swirling it gently in his hand.

“Well, look who it is. What’s Mr. Hayes doing at a bar?”

The man who had just arrived was Trevor Walters, the sole heir to Walters Industries.

“Hey, cut him some slack. Don’t bring up sore subjects,” Daniel said with a laugh, taking a sip of his drink.

News of Evan’s divorce hadn’t yet spread through their circle, so Trevor was clueless. He just grinned and said, “Out so late at a bar? Aren’t you worried your wife will be upset?”

Daniel glanced at the man beside him. His face was calm, betraying no emotion, so Daniel just smiled without saying anything more.

The men sat around, drinking and chatting, while Evan remained in the corner, downing glass after glass of liquor from the coffee table.

Even if they didn’t know what had happened, it was obvious to anyone with eyes that something was bothering Evan.

But among them, only Daniel was close enough to him, so the other men didn’t dare ask questions. They just continued drinking their own drinks.

“Mr. Walters, you owe us three shots. You’re the last one here today. Showing no respect for your boys, huh?”

Next to Daniel, Harold, the president of Voyager Pictures, grabbed a bottle and held it out to Trevor.

“Oh, come on, Harold, give me a break! The traffic was a nightmare! I was having dinner at my aunt's place tonight, so I got held up!”
