Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 201

Melissa left the hospital early in the morning and took a cab to Number One Kingsbridge Park.

A cold front had moved in after January, making Averton City significantly colder.

She had felt a bit cold sleeping at the hospital the night before, despite the heating. So, after settling her father’s breakfast, she took the opportunity to hurry back to the Kingsbridge Park residence to grab a blanket she had left behind.

She hadn’t been back since Evan had left Averton City.

For days, she had stayed at the hospital taking care of her father, trying her best to keep busy so she wouldn't think about Evan, wonder what he was doing, or who he was with.

It was eight in the morning, the sky just beginning to lighten through a thick layer of fog.

As Melissa got out of the cab and walked to the front gate, she noticed that the gate, which was usually locked tight, was slightly ajar this morning.

Could Evan be back?

With that thought, Melissa slowly pushed the gate open and walked into the yard.

The first day she had come here, Evan had added her fingerprint to the security system, so Melissa easily opened the front door.

As soon as the door opened, she saw a pair of black leather shoes in the entryway. Her suspicion was instantly confirmed. Melissa froze, feeling as if her breath had caught in her chest.

Evan was back. He was inside.

The man she had thought about day and night had finally reappeared. He hadn't left her; he had come back.

Without a second thought, Melissa hurriedly changed her shoes and headed straight for the closed master bedroom door.
