Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 191

Evan sat on the edge of the bed, his back ramrod straight, his hands placed primly on his lap like a schoolboy listening to his teacher.

Once Eric left, the two of them were alone in the room again.

Knowing Evan was drunk, Emma didn't bother with him. She walked out of the room and went to the bathroom to wash up.

Ever since she could remember, she'd had the habit of showering every day, regardless of the season. If she missed a day, she felt uncomfortable all over.

The bathroom here was a bit basic, unlike their home in Averton City, which had a bathtub. Emma moved as carefully and slowly as possible, so her shower took a little longer than usual.

When she was done and returned to the bedroom, she found Evan still sitting on the edge of the bed in the exact same prim posture, not having moved an inch.

Seeing this, Emma couldn't help but frown. "Aren't you going to wash up?"

"...Emma."

He stared at her, his eyes hazy and filled with a smile.

Emma paused for a second, then decided to ignore him. She pulled back the covers and got into bed.

A new air conditioning unit had been installed in the room that day, and it was now pleasantly warm, a far cry from the biting cold of the previous night.

Emma adjusted the pillows behind her back and picked up her iPad, intending to find a new show to watch before bed.

But just as she unlocked the device and started scrolling through the trending list on a streaming platform, the man who had been sitting on the edge of the bed, smiling foolishly, suddenly asked her, "Emma, did you touch my phone last night?"

Evan's lips were still curved in a smile as he asked, his gaze hazy and unreadable, betraying no emotion.

Emma's finger paused its scrolling on the screen for a moment. Then, with a neutral expression, she replied, "Yes. Someone was calling you, so I answered. What's wrong?"
