Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 174

As she remained bent over, her mind racing, Nathan simply stood up, took off his white coat, grabbed his jacket, and walked out.

Hearing the movement, Melissa quickly straightened up. By the time she turned to look at the doorway, Nathan was already gone.

“Dr. Allen…”

There was no response.

He had left without a word, as if she wasn't even there.

The realization made Melissa’s face turn an even deeper shade of red. All her life, her sweet and pretty appearance had given her an advantage. She was used to receiving special treatment and attention because of her looks.

It had always been that way. So she had naturally assumed that her sincere gesture of thanks was a clear, friendly signal, and that Nathan, like all the others who had helped her in the past, would be drawn to her and want to get closer…

But there was nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Melissa stood frozen, her face a mask of frustration and defeat from being so thoroughly ignored.

Nathan got into the elevator and went downstairs. He glanced at his watch—it was already eight o’clock, and he hadn't eaten dinner yet.

He casually pulled out his phone. There were several unread messages, all from Vivian.

After a brief glance, Nathan exited the chat. Just as he was about to lock the screen, his eyes caught a solid-colored profile picture at the bottom of his contacts. He paused.

He tapped on the profile picture, opening her feed. There was nothing there, just a single gray line of text indicating posts were only visible for the last three days.

He backed out. Their last conversation had been two weeks ago.

It was only then that Nathan realized he hadn't seen Emma in almost a week.
