Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 170

“What! A hundred what!”

Mrs. Hayes’s eyes widened instantly. She clutched the bag in her arms nervously, as if holding a newborn baby.

“Over a hundred thousand dollars…”

“A hundred thousand dollars!”

Mrs. Hayes repeated the number. When she looked down at the bag in her arms again, the whole room seemed to spin. “Oh my God, Emma, you’re going to give me a heart attack! A hundred thousand dollars! Your father and I could work at the pharmacy 365 days a year without a single day off and we still couldn’t afford this bag!”

Now that she knew the price, the bag in her arms didn’t feel so wonderful anymore.

She frowned, looking at it with a pained expression, and asked cautiously, “Can you still return it?”

“Haha, no way! What are you thinking? Just use it! Your son-in-law has money now, he’s not short on cash!”

Emma laughed reassuringly. She didn’t actually enjoy shopping much herself. Everything she wore, used, or owned was handled by Evan. She had only gone to the mall this time specifically to buy clothes, bags, and jewelry for her mother before coming home.

“I know… you two have money, but you still need to spend it wisely…”

Mrs. Hayes looked at the pile of luxury goods. If a single bag cost over a hundred thousand, she couldn’t imagine how much the rest of it was worth. She worried for her daughter. “You don’t have a job at home, so Evan is the only one earning money to support the family, right?”
