He hadn't done anything physical with her; it couldn't be considered a kept relationship.

"Come on, you're a man and a woman, living together, and you're not related by blood or marriage! So what kind of relationship is it?"

Daniel truly couldn't wrap his head around it. He knew he liked to party and was no saint himself, but he wasn't married and had never cheated on anyone he was with. On that count alone, he felt he was more of a man than Evan.

Evan turned his back, his expression still cold. "It's just... nothing."

That answer left Daniel speechless. "Whatever, Evan. Keep digging your own grave. You'll regret this one day."

With that, he didn't wait for a reaction and stormed out of the office.

The door slammed shut, and the room was once again plunged into silence.

Evan slowly turned to face the door, Daniel's words echoing in his mind. A sudden wave of irritation washed over him.

Emma waited in line for an hour before it was finally her turn.

As she went in, Lily, worried she might be nervous for her first check-up, gave her a few words of encouragement from outside.

Emma smiled, entered the examination room, closed the door, and sat down on the examination chair.

"Emma, is it? Do you remember the date of your last menstrual period?"

The doctor examining her was a woman in her fifties with streaks of gray at her temples named Dr. Brooks.

Emma thought for a moment. "My period has always been irregular. I think the last time was about two months ago..."

Dr. Brooks nodded. "And you only just found out? Have you had any abdominal pain or bleeding recently?"
