Watching Maeve walk further away, Mateo set his tray down in front of Elena.
"Watch this for me, I'll be right back."
He rushed after Maeve in a flurry of motion.
"Maeve, wait! What's with the hostility? Why are you suddenly giving me the cold shoulder?"
"When I asked you for The Anthem last time, you even sent me the audio file yourself."
"I thought about it carefully. While you were away from campus, I didn't do anything to offend you."
Maeve also felt that taking her anger out on him was a bit uncalled for.
She stopped and gave Mateo a forced, tight-lipped smile.
"Sorry, I just remembered something important I forgot to do, so I was in a rush to leave."
"I'm not targeting you intentionally. Don't take it personally."
Mateo was speechless.
Did she think he was an idiot? Her attitude clearly screamed that she was targeting him.
"Mateo, you said you had something to discuss face-to-face."
Maeve gestured for him to speak.
"I'll give you five minutes. Go ahead."
Why did this feel like he was reporting to a boss?
Speaking of bosses, wasn't he the president of the Aethelburg University student council?
"It's like this."
Despite only having five minutes, Mateo cherished the brief window of time.
"The audio file you gave me has already entered the rehearsal phase."
"To be honest, the results are phenomenal."
"Everyone is dying to know which musical genius composed this piece, and how you managed to get your hands on it."
Maeve replied coolly, "Oh, that song. A friend gave it to me."
"As for their name, they prefer to stay anonymous, and I won't be the one to spill their secret."
"Anything else? If not, I'm heading out."
Mateo felt a wave of frustration.
"It hasn't even been five minutes yet."
