After lounging in bed until nine, a freshly showered Maeve lazily strolled out of the bedroom.
Over breakfast, Andres asked, "What's on the agenda for today?"
Maeve scrolled through her phone between bites. "Things at Lab C have wrapped up for now, so I should probably make an appearance at the university before people start whispering that I'm slacking off. Subject 1152 cracked the chip's encryption for me, but it's going to take some extra work to access the files inside. And the Intelligent Competition is in about ten days. I need to get my entry ready before then."
Being struck by lightning on the way to Lumiere City had actually shattered her research bottleneck. Later, she would find the right time to run the experimental data at the lab. In addition, having completed the Red Gate assignment under her Silver Fox alias, she needed to claim her reward from Sterling. This meant Maeve's upcoming schedule was even more chaotic than that of a corporate CEO like Andres.
Andres slowed his eating. "You have ten days left until the Intelligent Competition. Are you sure you can produce a project in that timeframe?"
Maeve drank half a glass of soy milk, her expression utterly indifferent. "The project is just a little gadget I invented a few years ago. I'll just toss it in to cover my bases."
That casual, detached attitude was classic Maeve. Andres placed a perfectly fried egg onto her plate. "Do you want me there to cheer you on during the competition?"
The Intelligent Competition, sponsored by the Grover Group, would be broadcast entirely via live stream. To ensure its prestige and fairness, several industry experts had been invited as judges, turning the event into a massive spectacle. The competitors were all elites cherry-picked from top universities, so the pressure was intense. Knowing this, Andres wasn't about to let his girl be overshadowed.
