Before a rogue bolt of lightning could make a sudden return, Maeve buried her face into Andres's chest.
"Don't forget to have someone drive my car over. The medicine I need is inside."
Verdant Cloud Estate was Andres's private residence in Lumiere City.
Every year, during certain fixed periods, he would travel here to attend specific, highly exclusive meetings.
Andres despised staying in hotels.
So, he had purchased a luxurious, sprawling apartment right in the prime district near the International Clubhouse.
The complex was named Verdant Cloud Estate.
The rain continued to pour outside, but the thunder and lightning had thankfully ceased.
After a hot shower, Andres carefully applied ointment to Maeve's lightning-scorched wounds.
Her once delicate skin had turned a horrifying, charred black. It made his heart ache just looking at it, and his touches grew increasingly feather-light.
Maeve covered her mouth, suppressing a small yawn.
A single glistening tear squeezed out of the corner of her eye, a clear sign of deep exhaustion.
However, since her wounds weren't fully treated yet, she couldn't go to sleep.
Watching Andres meticulously dab the ointment on at a snail's pace, Maeve grew a little impatient.
"Whitty, can you handle this? If not, I'll do it myself."
Andres easily dodged her attempt to snatch the medicine.
"The burns are severe. I don't want to hurt you."
Maeve looked entirely unbothered.
"This ointment is specially formulated for severe burns; it works even better than Formula 609 I used on you before."
"Just slather it on boldly. Even if it hurts, I won't scream. Besides, a little pain like this is nothing to me."
Andres asked with a hint of exasperation, "Did you use that forbidden art behind my back again?"
Maeve stared back at him with pure, innocent eyes, lying without so much as blinking.
"No."
Andres deliberately pressed his thumb against the worst of her burns.
Maeve's brow furrowed slightly.
"Ouch!"
Andres retorted, "I thought you weren't afraid of pain?"
Maeve fell silent, allowing him to continue applying the ointment to the various burns scattered across her skin.
Andres asked, "Did you crack the chip's password?"
