Anya was well aware of the bad blood between Leah and Maeve.
She also knew that Leah was desperate to claw back her ruined reputation at any cost.
She offered a slow nod. "That's right. Maeve and I cannot coexist."
A cruel, satisfied smile spread across Leah's face.
"What a coincidence. Maeve and I can't coexist either. Since we share a common enemy, why don't we put our heads together and figure out how to completely destroy her?"
Anya had absolutely zero desire to partner with someone like Leah. But considering Leah's wealthy family background, she didn't want to make an enemy out of her either.
"Do you have something in mind, Leah?"
That was exactly the opening Leah was waiting for. She covered her mouth, leaning in close. "You know the University Games are coming up soon, right?"
Anya couldn't care less about the sporting event and had no idea why Leah was bringing it up.
All she cared about was the upcoming Tech Competition, which would be her real opportunity to secure her status. She knew Maeve was entering, and Anya was desperate to crush her on a public stage.
Unaware of Anya's internal monologue, Leah pressed on.
"It's tradition for every participating university to compose an original anthem for the opening ceremony."
The reminder sparked a memory. Leah's looks might have been incredibly average, but she had inherited a genuine, undeniable talent for musical composition from her father.
"Leah, aren't you supposed to be composing the anthem this year?"
Just hearing the question made Leah's blood boil. She had planned to use her talent to leverage favors from the university administration and the student council, only to have the rug violently yanked out from under her.
"I was supposed to. But that spot got stolen by Maeve."
