“I think this is just a formality. What really matters is that everyone gets along. Regina said.
“I told him not to walk me over, but he insisted,” she added, looking a little shy and pleased. “Sometimes I really can’t do anything about him.”
“Your husband treats you well,” Emery replied lightly with a small laugh.
She liked showing off her happy marriage in subtle ways, but that didn’t mean she enjoyed listening to other people do the same.
Besides, she didn’t even know who this woman was. Regina wasn’t a familiar face among the socialites, and she clearly wasn’t anyone important.
If Regina were someone notable, Emery would have known her.
In Emery’s mind, this woman was probably just a nobody. Maybe even someone’s kept girlfriend.
With that flashy style, Emery thought she might be someone being kept around by a rich man.
Emery scoffed inwardly. Then she found an excuse. “Sorry, I have something to take care of. I’ll head out first.”
She didn’t wait for a reply. She walked out of the restroom with her chin held high.
But after just a few steps, her legs suddenly went weak. Her body tipped forward, and she almost fell flat on her face.
Luckily, Regina reacted fast and caught her.
“Mrs. Nygard, are you okay?” Regina asked.
Emery turned pale for a moment. She quickly stood up straight and pulled her arm away. “I’m fine. I probably just lost my balance.”
She was very careful about her appearance. Emery hurriedly fixed her hair and smoothed her dress. The last thing she wanted was to embarrass herself.
If another lady had seen her almost fall, it would have been embarrassing.
“I’m glad you’re okay,” Regina said gently. “You should be careful. If you fall again next time, that wouldn’t be good.”
Her words sounded kind, but they made Emery pause. Lately, this had been happening more often.
She would suddenly feel weak, like she was about to fall. Sometimes she couldn’t even hold things properly and would drop them.
Yet all her yearly checkups came back normal.
She thought about it for a moment and blamed stress. The problems at the company had been weighing on her. Her husband was rarely home these days, and she hadn’t been sleeping well. Maybe she was just

exhausted and rum down.
Emery steadied herself and said calmly, “I’m fine. It won’t happen again. Thank you.”
After that, she turned and walked away quickly.
She clearly didn’t take this woman seriously at all. Even that “thank you” sounded empty and cold.
Seeing how proud and full of herself Emery was, Regina felt a surge of anger.

“Hmph. What are you acting so high and mighty for?” Regina muttered under her breath. “Soon enough, you’ll be the one crying. You’ll embarrass yourself in front of all those rich wives and never be able to hold your head up again.”
Her eyes darkened with calculation and revenge.
Now that her goal was achieved, there was no need to waste more time here.
Regina left the restroom, gave Harmony a quick excuse about having something to take care of, and walked out of the gathering.
What wine tasting? It was nothing more than a group of rich women showing off to each other.
Back at home, Regina poured herself a glass of red wine and slowly enjoyed it.
Compared to that pointless wine tasting event, sipping red wine at home was far more relaxing.
Then she began calling Raymond repeatedly. She also sent him many messages.
Every one of them was soft and emotional, saying how much she missed him and how she wanted him to come stay with her tonight.
This trick always worked. No matter how busy Raymond was, he would definitely come.
“Hehe, Emery, Emery,” Regina said to herself with a quiet laugh.
“Do you really think your husband is that loyal? The person he loves most is me.”
She took another sip of wine, a confident smile spreading across her face.
Regina had always believed that Raymond’s true love was her. His first love and the one he could never forget.
