“I told him not to walk me over, but he insisted,” she added, looking a little shy and pleased. “Sometimes I really can’t do anything about him.”

“Your husband treats you well,” Emery replied lightly with a small laugh.

Emery turned pale for a moment. She quickly stood up straight and pulled her arm away. “I’m fine. I probably just lost my balance.”

She was very careful about her appearance. Emery hurriedly fixed her hair and smoothed her dress. The last thing she wanted was to embarrass herself.

“I’m glad you’re okay,” Regina said gently. “You should be careful. If you fall again next time, that wouldn’t be good.”

Her words sounded kind, but they made Emery pause. Lately, this had been happening more often.
