Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 667

When Hiram learned what had happened during the day, he was furious. "That Jonathan! To think I used to believe he was a decent guy. Turns out he's nothing but an animal!"

"It's fine. I'm okay now. There's no need to get yourself worked up over someone else," Charlotte said, pouring a glass of warm milk.

Hiram looked at her, worried. "If he did it once, he'll do it again. Who's to say he won't come back?"

Charlotte tilted her chin toward the window. "See that car parked out there?"

Hiram found that odd. "Where did that car come from? I've never seen it before."

"Evander's man," she said, tracing the rim of the glass before taking a sip of milk.

Hiram's eyelids drooped as he muttered, "But I thought you two were divorced."

"So we're divorced. Does that mean I can't get something out of him? He's the one who posted someone here, not me," Charlotte said coolly. "It's free security, so I might as well use it. I just wonder how capable this freebie is."

Hiram stared at her. Had his sister always been this cynical?

At that moment, Fletcher, wrapped in a blanket inside his van and eating instant noodles, sneezed. He had a feeling someone was talking about him.

Two days later, Victor, his grandson Jonathan, and Jensen met for a meal in a private room at a Japanese restaurant.

Jensen noticed the bruises on Jonathan's cheek and frowned. "What happened to Jonathan?"

Victor glanced at him as well. He hadn't asked, but he had a pretty good idea. "Probably got into another scuffle. He just can't seem to rein in that temper of his."

Jensen placed a slice of salmon on his plate. "He's a young man. It's normal for boys to be hot-blooded and get into a few scrapes. It's a shame I only have a daughter, otherwise I'd love for Jonathan to have a brother to hang out with."

Victor smiled, raising his glass with a thoughtful air. "No need to call it a shame. From now on, isn't Jonathan practically half a son to you? We'll be counting on your support in the future."

Jensen was pleased by this sentiment, and as the two men toasted, Jonathan set his own glass down. "Mr. Jensen, I recall you mentioning you wanted to place a woman by Evander's side."
