Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 594

The tax dispute had become such a big issue that it was impossible for her not to know about it. Wesley didn't deny it. "It's my fault. I was negligent and overlooked the core problem."

Seeing him take all the blame, Charlotte looked at him and said, "Wesley, no matter the reason, I believe in you."

At her words, the hard line of Wesley's jaw softened slightly. He looked at Charlotte, as if not wanting her to see him at his lowest, and forced a smile. "Just hearing you say that is enough."

Susy emerged from the hospital room, and both Charlotte and Wesley turned their attention to her.

"You two should stay with your father," she said. "His health is what's most important."

Charlotte nodded. After watching Susy leave, she looked at the preoccupied Wesley and added, "Wesley, I'll stay here with Dad. You go do what you need to do."

Wesley snapped out of his thoughts, his eyelids flickering. "I'll be back as soon as I can."

A short while after Wesley left, Evander arrived at the hospital, brought by Julian. He saw the slim, solitary figure waiting on a bench in the hallway and strode toward her. "Charlotte."

Charlotte looked up. The man leaned against the back of the bench, his tall frame bending down in front of her. "I'm sorry I'm late," he said, his voice husky.

She blinked. "What are you apologizing for?"

"I was afraid you'd be upset that I wasn't here when you needed me most," Evander replied earnestly, without a second thought.

"I wouldn't be…" She had been about to say Wesley was there.

"How's Dad?"

Julian's eyes widened, as if he'd heard something he shouldn't have. Charlotte froze for a second, then remembered and gave a small pout. "He's fine. Just a sudden spike in his blood pressure. He'll be alright after some rest."

"Good. I'll go in and see him." Just as Evander stood up, Charlotte grabbed his wrist.

He turned back, his gaze fixed on her face.

Her lips parted. "Dad just fell asleep. You can see him after he wakes up. I'm a little... a little tired right now. I want to rest for a bit."
