Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 574

"He's not a Rayburn. He's not family. How is he not an outsider?" Sean retorted, slumping onto the sofa with an annoyed expression.

Evander, a faint smile on his lips, gently placed his teacup on the coffee table. His gaze fell on Sean as he spoke in a calm, unhurried tone. "Mr. Rayburn, your fourth son, is right. I indeed have no blood ties to the Rayburn family. It's only because the patriarch has been kind enough to invite me over often that I've taken the liberty of being an uninvited guest."

His words were humble and polite, explaining his presence while also flattering Mr. Rayburn and showing the family ample respect.

"Sweet talk and flattery," Sean muttered. He was about to say more, but Mr. Rayburn cut him off. "That's enough. We have a guest. Where is your decorum as an elder?"

Sean fell silent, but his face remained sour. He picked up his teacup and took a large gulp, trying to mask his displeasure.

Though Charlotte looked exasperated, she had no intention of intervening. If Evander couldn't even win over her father, what was the point of trying to prove himself?

She quietly raised her eyes and met Evander's gaze. She gave him a slight arch of her eyebrow, a hint of playful amusement in her look.

The others didn't notice their silent exchange. Caleb smoothly tried to mediate. "Sean has always been like this. Mr. Evander, please don't mind him. This is this year's first-flush green tea. My father specifically asked me to bring it out for you."

As he spoke, he topped up Evander's cup with coffee.

Evander pulled his gaze away, nodded his thanks, and took a small sip. "Excellent tea," he praised. "The aroma is fragrant and mellow, with a long, pleasant aftertaste. You have a refined taste, Mr. Rayburn."

Mr. Rayburn stroked his graying beard, a smile spreading across his face. "It's just a simple hobby, tending to some plants and drinking tea. I'm surprised a young man like yourself also has an interest in coffee, Mr. Evander."

"I only know the basics, hardly enough to impress you, Mr. Rayburn," Evander said humbly, setting down his cup. "It's just that my father enjoys these things, so I've picked up a little from being around him."

Zachary's family was originally from Crestmont, a region famous for its coffee culture, and Mr. Rayburn had long heard of Zachary's fondness for it.

After they chatted for a while, Mr. Rayburn's gaze shifted to Charlotte. "I hear you young people get along well. Have you given any thought to the future?"
