Natalie rushed forward and grabbed Terence’s hand. “You are the CEO of the Lockwood Group. You don’t need to give up that position for me.”
Natalie didn’t want Terence to renounce his title for her. The Lockwood Group was his life’s work. Why should he give it up for her, especially to someone like Simon? She wouldn’t stand for it.
Simon heard her and smirked. “He’s the one who chose love over power. Terence said it himself, he doesn’t want the CEO position, he only wants you. He can’t go back on his word.”
Natalie glared at Simon. “If you have a death wish, go play in traffic. Don’t drag Terence into it and force him to get his hands dirty.”
Simon cried out indignantly, “Grandpa, look! She’s cursing me!”
Edgar Lockwood snapped, “Natalie, Simon is an heir to the Lockwood Group, the future CEO! What right do you have to speak to him like that?”
Natalie smiled. “As I recall, I don’t work for the Lockwood Group, nor do I collect a salary from your family. Why should I give him any respect?”
Natalie’s retort left Edgar seething. They were so used to being flattered and fawned over that her words made him sputter with rage, but he had no comeback.
Just then, Edgar walked toward Terence, holding a position change agreement.
“Since you’re willing to give up the CEO position for her, then sign the papers.”
Terence glanced at it. It was a document formalizing the change in leadership.
They had come prepared.
