Patrick's eyes were bloodshot. Natalie could finally be free of that scoundrel.
That man could no longer leech off her and ruin her life.
Although Natalie already knew the truth in her heart, hearing Patrick announce in front of so many people that Martin Doyle was not her biological father felt like a form of salvation, as if she had been freed from prison.
The reporters excitedly documented the moment. "This is great! So Martin Doyle really isn't Natalie's father."
"That man doesn't deserve to be a father. Would anyone do that to their own daughter?"
"He dragged her out of the Helios Institute for Advanced Minds, and now he's causing trouble at Mr. Mercer's research institute. He just wants to make it impossible for Natalie to work there. If she were his real daughter, he'd be proud of her. Who would try to ruin their own kid's life like that?"
"Yeah, someone should make Martin Doyle talk. Whose daughter is Natalie, really? Did he kidnap her?"
"That's totally possible. He's got shifty eyes; he doesn't look like a good person. Maybe he really did kidnap her."
"But he does bear a slight resemblance to Marie."
At the back of the crowd, Marie was furious when she heard Patrick announce that Natalie was not Martin Doyle's daughter.
She wanted Natalie to be branded with shame, not to have the label of 'Martin Doyle's daughter' removed.
Natalie belonged in the mud. She should never be allowed to climb out!
Marie's eyes darkened, and she suddenly shouted, "Martin Doyle jumped! Martin Doyle jumped from the building!"
Her words stunned everyone.
"Martin Doyle jumped? Is it for real? It's probably just another stunt to scare people, like before."
Natalie's brow furrowed. Martin Doyle really jumped? How is that possible?
Terence saw her shock, squeezed her hand, and gave her a look that said, "I'm here!"
By the time everyone rushed outside, a crowd had already formed around Martin Doyle.
Her brow furrowed in concentration, Natalie performed emergency procedures on Martin while telling someone to call for an ambulance.
Martin Doyle was a coward who clung to life. How could he possibly jump?
The reporters had been hoping to question Martin Doyle about Natalie's real parents and whether he was a kidnapper, but they never expected him to jump without a word.
It was shocking.
But if he died now, even though Natalie wasn't his biological daughter, she would still be mired in scandal.
Even in death, this man wouldn't let Natalie go.
That was truly cruel.
In an inconspicuous corner at the back of the crowd, Victoria was scared out of her wits, but she bit her lip, not daring to make a sound.
"Natalie, you can stop your phony act of trying to save him. The man is already dead. You drove your own adoptive father to his death. He'll haunt you even as a ghost."
