Marie was already furious, but Victoria's words sent her into a rage.
"What nonsense are you talking about? How could I possibly look like that disgusting man? Is he worthy? Are you blind?"
Marie was extremely agitated. Victoria quickly tried to soothe her, "I misspoke. You and Martin Doyle look nothing alike. These people are the ones who are blind."
Natalie found it amusing. In the past, she had bent over backwards for Victoria and never got so much as a smile in return. Now, even after Marie had publicly embarrassed her, Victoria was still smiling placatingly.
People could be so ridiculous sometimes.
Terence suddenly took Natalie's hand. "We gave Martin Doyle a fair chance at a publicly monitored test, and he refused. So be it. You're not his daughter, and from now on, he will have no power over you. Let's go. Don't let these people dirty your sight."
Terence was about to lead Natalie away, as Martin Doyle, with his guilty conscience, refused the test.
Terence wouldn't let Natalie be passive or controlled by others.
Seeing Terence and Natalie about to leave, Martin Doyle panicked.
If they really left, he would get nothing.
"Terence, you can't leave! You haven't given me the money you promised! How can you go? Natalie is my daughter! If you don't pay me, you can't take her!"
A scoundrel will always be a scoundrel. Even with a guilty conscience, he still dared to cause trouble.
Lucas strode forward. "You want money, is that it?"
Martin Doyle said confidently, "Your father wants to marry my daughter, so of course he has to pay a bride price. It's only natural. You're just a kid, but you should try to convince your father. Once they're married, I'll be your step-grandfather."
Natalie's brow furrowed. The onlookers whispered among themselves—Martin Doyle was truly shameless!
Step-grandfather? Lucas almost laughed out loud.
