“Help, he hit me! He knocked my tooth out! He’s attacking me! Somebody, help!”
Patrick was a mild-mannered man who had never lost his temper in public. But this time, in front of so many people, he had knocked Martin Doyle’s tooth out, shocking everyone.
“Look at Mr. Mercer! He actually hit someone over Natalie! He even knocked out his tooth.”
“I can’t believe such a gentlemanly person would do that. It looks like there really is something going on between him and Natalie.”
“There must be. That’s why he flew off the handle. It's over. Mr. Mercer's reputation is done for. Look, the media is here.”
A reporter holding a microphone and a cameraman with a camera on his shoulder were running toward them.
“Look, a police car is coming too. This is bad. Is Mr. Mercer going to be arrested?”
The sound of police sirens and the sight of officers rushing over put everyone on edge.
Natalie heard the gossip about Patrick and saw the media and police arriving.
She was furious. It wasn’t enough for Martin Doyle to ruin her reputation; now he was trying to ruin Patrick’s. She would not tolerate it.
When Martin Doyle saw the police, he waved his hand frantically.
“Officers, over here! This man assaulted me! He knocked my tooth out!”
Natalie grabbed Martin Doyle by the collar and said fiercely, “Martin Doyle, you shut your mouth. If you dare ruin Patrick, I’ll take you down with me!”
Martin Doyle flinched at the look in Natalie’s eyes.
To Patrick, a man like Martin Doyle, who would sell out his own daughter and trample on her dignity, wasn’t worth saving. But if he died now, these people who didn't know the truth would undoubtedly launch a vicious online campaign against Natalie.
“Martin Doyle, what is it that you really want?”
At that moment, Victoria and Marie strolled over. “My, my, what’s all this?” Marie said to Natalie. “Is this a daughter driving her own father to suicide? Natalie, you can’t be like this.”
Natalie looked at Marie, then at the police and the busy reporters. Her expression darkened. “You brought them here, didn’t you? Marie, you and Darren are becoming more and more alike. You both love being the puppet masters, don’t you?”
Natalie knew that Martin Doyle, the police, and the media must have all been summoned by Marie.
She had set this stage and was now here with Victoria to enjoy the show.
Marie smiled. “Natalie, what are you talking about? I’m Ms. Ward. My father is hosting a grand gala in a few days to celebrate my appointment as CEO of the Ward Group. I don’t have time for your pathetic drama. Don’t you dare slander me.”
